No doubt a vast host of detractors will say all sorts of things, light fuel load, track temp etc, etc.

But give the man due credit.

Ferrari's home track and he TROUNCES schumacher in front of the home crowd.

When's the last time anyones done that?

Top Drive.

I'll join in on the down to the detractors theme - Ferarri are the team that has realised more than most that low fuel is the way to go in qualifying. I'd be surprised if Jenson beats Michael into the pits by more than two laps tomorrow - if that. (waits to be quoted wrong )

Schumacher got his pole position in Bahrain on low fuel, he pitted after only 9 laps of the race.

If you are on low fuel and on pole position you maximise the advantage you have if you get away in the lead, any time ahead is transferred to extra time in the pits for the extra fuel, but if you do 2 or 3 stops you can split the time over those stops.

But I think all of the top 8 are on very similar fuel loads, Jenson is on pole because he blitzed the final sector of his lap was the quickest ever of the whole weekend and 0.3 quicker than anyone else in final qualyfing.

Stunning lap - it looked even more impressive the second time I watched it, after I'd seen Shuey's and Montoya's laps. However don't forget to complement the engineers - that car looks so well-balanced and the Honda engine is clearly very impressive. Can't wait to see JB leading Shuey into the first cormer!!!

I'd be interested to hear what Condor has to say, I remember clashing with him a few months ago when Jenses was setting lap records and he told me to shut and wait until the real racing started. Looks like Jensen is genuinly fast. Rich...

Been watching Jenson since he was a little boy in a little kart...new this would happen and am soooo pleased for him, and his family who paid for it all when he was young. No matter what happens tommorrow, Jenson has arrived as a top flight driver.

Well Frank Williams is no mug, and if he rated him so early on, then I'm not going to argue with him. He qualified pole on pure ability and a very sorted car. Put him in a Ferrari and he will be world champ within 2 seasons. The first of the Playstation generation, now that's one boy who drives it like he stole it...

One Kimi didn't win in a Sauber and Jenson was unfortunate in that the Williams was on the "cusp" of winning but didn't. Even at Renault He still looked class and until the signing of Alonso had the legs of Trulli. The BAR is "His" car much as the Ferrari is Schumacher's. Perhaps if Ron Dennis wasn't so wedded to a "corporate" driver He would have signed him himself. I did notice as well that Schumacher as usual tried to "mix it" by suggesting the race start could be compromised by having a "New" pole man. Typical mind games from the "master" when He's lost a battle.

No one has said that he did they have said that he was the first to win which he was, in a McLaren.

I think Jenson did a brilliant job in getting pole
O.258 secs faster than Michael, who made a slight error. Just watching it, you could see how well the car rode the curves...Jenson is full of confidence, and he made the difference. It's a great achievement for him and BAR and Honda....However, the race is what counts

Rich...I doubt very much if I told you to shut, not my style ....but I did say that winter testing results should be taken with a pinch of salt....and I still think that's the case.

BAR and Honda have improved dramatically this year...but then Williams, McLaren..and Renault - one could say, have underperformed....and Ferrari rule the roost

Really looking forward to the race ...and I hope Jenson gets another podium finish ...but I'd still favour Michael for the win

[quote=mojocvh] I also think Rossi will be the next big thing in F1. Yamaha and Toyota are partners, and Rossi qualifies for a superlicence having won multiple international motorsport titles. Anyone here think Rossi may do a few 'guest' drives if his MotoGP season goes tits up?

I'll put £50 on Rossi taking over from Schumacher when he retires.... whenever that may be.
