I must admit I do find the Inver Lodge a tad poncey and I preferred the old Culag Hotel down by the harbour where it felt forever 1912. My favourite - now gone sadly - was the Tomdoun Hotel on the dead end road to Kinlochhourn. If you expected modern facilities you would be disappointed and you'd post waspish comments on Trip Advisor; but I loved it. Great food, massive measures of whisky , an eclectic clientele and whippets and labs everywhere. No poncey en suite, and the bath water was peat stained . Stunning views and total silence. Stayed there one December and recall the local keeper helping out with breakfast then suddenly disappearing with his rifle and bagging a stag a few hundred yards from the hotel. You don't get that at a Travelodge ....

Sounds like my kind of hotels. However, I do go on road trips for the roads and this one just doesn't cut it for me which is probably why I missed seeing this hotel.

Maybe I'm just "hypercritical".

Out of interest, Kylesku have just added 4 new rooms. View from balconies = fab.

If you're booking ask to be put in 'Willies Hoose' - as that's what they've named it.

I'm going to try that place next time, already booked up for this year in the light house at the top of Loch Ness

They've made a great job of that. Had dinner there last October but yet to stay since the new owners have taken over.

New restaurant is very lovely

...and they have new decking:

...and a bizarrely tame wild deer who wanders about.

Fantastic stretch of road isn't it.

The pics you posted of the hotel look great, quite a transformation in a comparatively short space of time.

That's and A road?? Looks more like the typical sheeptrack found in the Highlands.

Your taste in roads is about as bad as your taste in hotels. Is that in Lincolnshire?
