Okay Bealach drivers... I've heard back regarding the closure times (6 weeks from April 9th):

"The final plans are not fixed yet but what has recently been proposed is that the road will close between 9am & 4pm. Open until 5.30 it would then close till 11pm."

...so if you're going to use that route to Applecross, I suggest an early start!

REVISED:

Closure is from 9th April for 6 weeks.
Mon-Fri. closed between 9am-4.30pm.
Open from 4.30 – 5.30pm
Closed from 5.30 – 11pm
Sat & Sun. normal stop and go signs with delays for no longer than 15 minutes.

I'm just counting down the days now. biggrin

Hotels all booked, car has arrived at the dealer though can't be registered until the 1st, frustrating! We'll be up there from the 28th March to the 1st of April, will give a wave to anyone else about.

Both myself and my girlfriend really looking forward to it - though I do hope it warms up a bit by the time we go.

ETA: Just need to figure out a good way to get my itinerary to the Sat nav in the car. Does google maps work with car play? scratchchin

Thanks for the info. Can you keep us updated as I was planning on driving that road around 14-15 May?

Yep... I'll do so.

Got another e mail yesterday and things still seem to be changing. Lots of pissed off people - so watch this space.

Basically though, if you reach the Bealach and it's closed, either take the alt route to Applecross if you want to go there (via Kenmore - wave as you pass!), or just head straight on to either Lochcarron (heading south) or Torridon (heading north)

Lovely here at the moment. Shameless insert:

Just into our second week, headed to Applecross pass yesterday, only to find it closed. We're now on Rasaay and very much enjoying the peace & quiet.

Here's a shot from the pass and one from Rasaay, car packed to the rafters!

Postie said it would still be closed tomorrow, and we have a cold snap due at the weekend, so even if it doesn't snow it won't open due to ice. Only way to Applecross at the moment is by the coast road.

As soon as I know, I'll post.

Yes, of course. All trips to the Highlands, and Islands, are good. smile

You'll need to plan which day of the week to cross from Uig to Tarbet.
The Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun departure times are completely different from those on Tue/Thu/Sat.
https://www.calmac.co.uk/article/2991/Harris-Uig--...

The Stornoway to Ullapool pattern is far more consistent.
https://www.calmac.co.uk/article/2992/Lewis-Storno...

Two days will be taken up just getting to/from the Highlands.
So you will require at least a week to make it worthwhile imo.
I need that without even visiting the Hebrides. That would add another two days.
It really depends on how much of the mainland you intend to include though.
