I managed to get up to Inverness for a couple of nights and we really lucked out with the weather so managed a trip up to Durness and back - great to be back in the area.

Day 1 - Old Military Road via Foyers
Day 2 - Durness and back
Day 3 - Inverness Cars and Coffee and home

Did I see you parked at the Car Park at the bottom of the Ardvrek to Kylesku road, flatlemon? I was in a yellow 2-11.

Not technically Highlands, but on the way.

If you don't want to go up the Western side of Loch Lomond with all it's traffic. Turn right at Balloch, then go up through Aberfoyle and the Duke's pass. This leads to the A85 and you can approach Crianlarich from the East. Very little traffic, and the Duke's pass is a good limbering up exercise for Applecross.

All of you need to stop posting great pictures of the place because some of us miss it a lot but are struggling to get up there!!

Can't wait to get back - Scotland with good weather is just incredible, and even with 'scottish' weather biggrin it is still lovely!

Compliments to the above poster, Get Carter! (its his twitter account) - my only affiliation is a past transporter of Ted (or was it Mrs Ted?).

There's an O/B film crew here at the moment with about 15 lorries and other vehicles. They are pissing all the locals off big time (of course). Tomorrow is also the Celtman Extreme Triathlon. In the afternoon. >200 people are going to run down the glen with support vehicles (in the opposite direction on a single track road). And that's the time this lot are leaving. It'll be carnage. Avoid!

Thats you there

It's half of Kinlochewe to Torridon and a bit of the Torridon to Diabaig road.

Can't get 97 on Skye though.
The station at the co-op in Broadford always used to have super unleaded.
In case it's useful for future planners - confirm Broadford co-op does have 97 E5 as of June '22.

Also a jetwash with a splendid view, most handy when you've been put at the very front of a choppy Mallaig > Armadale crossing and received an unwanted shower. Don't be early for that service if you're driving anything you're precious about! laugh

Something like this?

I wouldn't say the crossing was rough but thought we'd diverted via Corryvreckan..

Glad I was in a hire car.

Still not successfully got myself on a trip to see that (Corryvreckan).

Well mine was French and blue, but much less practical than that peach of a machine. Would not fancy exposing aged tin to that.

Hi All,

Had a great time a few years back in my Impreza wagon driving up the West Coast to Ullapool and then across via the Old Military Road….having scored a week’s holiday to myself later this year (October), I’d really like to return but complete the NC500….only problem is I know have a Forester STI and she will only drink 99 Ron (and maybe 97/98 with octane booster)…she’s also not to hot on mpg…are there any petrol stations that stock the fuel I need on the route round the top?

There are lots of resources but many seem quite old…

TIA

Would be worth checking but I looked at the Tesco website 5 weeks ago and i don't think they listed Momentum at the Wick store. It looks on Streetview that they only have one unleaded grade as well
