This was the last one we recorded.

We are going again in September in some old French cars, our thinking - French alps in older French cars

Thought I'd add my road trip from last year to this, so people can use it for reference/tips :

16 days. UK - Luxembourgh - Germany - Switzerland - Italy - France.

Some great trips on here!! Done a few myself, guess I need to write them up!

But at the moment I've a more pressing need. Decided that I'm going to drive to Tuscany, in September 26, to take my eldest for her 40th birthday celebration. We're doing it in my Aston Martin DB7.

Now I've done 11 alpine passes, one or 2 of them are narrow and over populated, so I want to miss those. Any suggestions for interesting routes from the channel and over the alps? I've tended to do motorway to Germany / Austria and then take better routes, but most of the routes I've done are narrow / rough roads on the way to the passes, and they don't really suit my car - which will be 31 then!! So a birthday trip for her as well!!

If you are going to Tuscany, find SS71 from Orvieto. I drove it during the Mille Miglia this years and it is now the best road I have ever driven. Flowing, perfect surface and very little traffic. It´s not a short bit either and has great views too.
