Roads in Yorkshire
Discussion
Hi guys,
As we all know, Yorkshire is one of the most scenic places in England (Biased because i live there ) but i was wondering if anyone had any roads they recommend driving, whether it be a nice sunday drive or a road with tight corners or just something with spectacular scenery.
Thanks
Dan

Rosedale Abbey to Castleton
Rosedale Abbey to Goathland
All of these are in the Moors National Park
Bedale right up Wensleydale then over to Penrith

I'm going up to North Yorkshire this week for a couple of days hope to do a few of these roads,I will be staying in Harrogate but plan on going to Whitby via the A61 to Ripon then on to Thirsk still on the A61,from Thrisk to Helmsley then on the B1257 though to Stokesley cut across to castleton down to Rosedale Abbey and back towards Egton Bridge, then on to Whitby,I will get back useing the A169 to Picking and then join the A170,A61 to Harrogate, should be a nice drive with some great veiws,I'm going to take the Range Rover as the weather could get bad which would be no fun in rear wheel drive, soft top BMW.
Hi There
Just to let you know the A64 is closed on weekends for major works at Knapton so all the traffic between Leeds/York to Scarborough is diverted onto the A170 Pickering Road making it very congested.
Might be work giving it a wide berth and stay up country, poss back via Northallerton-Masham-Ripon into the back of Harrogate.
Excellent biking route - should be fun in the Range Rover
First time post (Hi Everybody) Hope it helps

Hawes to Ribblehead to Settle. I'll be up there in the 911 in three weeks, and just feel spoilt for choice. Plenty of bridges to encourage me to wind the window down too.
Buttertubs just above Hawes for a quick blast before setting off west to Ribblehead is the way to do it if going From Hawes to Settle.I have a favourite loop around the Hawes and Sedbergh area - butty stop at Kirkby Lonsdale's Devils Bridge and a brew at the cafe up in Hawes.

Despite living in the North York Moors there are far better roads than the Yorkshire TT B1257 ( too short, often biker hell ) or the blat up to Castleton from Kirbymoorside (bumpy , random sheep). The A684 from Bedale up Wensleydale is great as long as you do it before 7am - after that it can be tedious. Best local-ish runs are in East Yorkshire; the Wolds have some wonderful roads. And Co Durham has the wonderful B6277 (I think ?) from Middleton in Teesdale to Alston.

Driving heaven - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Market+Pl%2FB...Although the best bit doesn't begin until just past the Langdon Beck Hotel (point B).
More than half of the route from there to Alston is actually in Cumbria.
The county border is at the cattle grid (point C).
Another superb road which is entirely within Co. Durham.
The B6278 from Eggleston via Stanhope to Edmondbyers.
