I'm planning a European tour this summer (June) and a part of it will be driving from Vienna into Italy through the Alps, initially to somewhere in the Bologna area (well probably north of that) and then right down to the south. I'm looking for ideas on good roads to use to go through the Alps, basically anywhere east of Stelvio. Give me some ideas so I can piece together a route.

Thanks

Yipper

Cortina to Bolzano via the Passo di Giau is where it's at. By far the best roads and scenery in the Alps.

We'll be doing that road in July, and using the Grossglockner Pass from Austria towards Cortina. Take a look at that one too.
Paul.

Yeah, that is the classic German bikers' route. Munich to Grossglockner to Cortina to Bolzano and back to Munich. Really is a superb route.
