2006 to 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 3.0L CRD or 4,7L or 5,7 L
Discussion
Hi all,
We are looking for a replacement car for my wife.
She has a 2008 Honda Civic.
She used to like driving out Land Cruiser, but has a hankering for a Jeep. She does around 3000 miles per year, so petrol is defiantly a possibility, in fact, prefer petrol over diesel.
Seems there is the Limited spec, and the Overland spec.
The diesel is the workhorse 3.0 litre CRD V6 diesel, which I believe is Mercedes based.
The petrol's are both V8, and can be 4,7 liter, or 5,7 litre., to really bothered about the 6,1 liter SRT8
Can any one who has had a petrol V8 version, or the CRD V6 diesel version, please give me some comments on which to decide on?
Also what problems should we look out for when viewing them ?
Thanks so much.

Whilst the diesel is good and the 4.7 isn't the most reliable.
If you like noise, it has to be the V8
I own an older 4.7 Overland as a toy for winter & towing, it's crap in every quantifiable way, the previous owner also raised it 2" and fitted big wheels and tyres, which made it worse - but I love it !

I would like to think we would get the 5,7 v8
I know the 3.0l diesel is a Mercedes lump, but she only drives 4,5 miles to work, and 4,5 miles back.
Not sure the diesel would like that !
It is almost stop / start all the way.
The 5,7 also shuts down a bank of 4 cylinders, when crawling traffic, So this gives us (me) the preference of the big 5,7l petrol over the smaller 4,7 l
