I didn't realize there was more than one sex shop, only one I know is the one A1m Northbound near Wakefield.
There is one near Grantham, but the A1 is just a dual carriageway at that pointRawwr said:

Outside of rush hour probably M1, but the A1 is more interesting purely for the random stuff that's by it, from random sex shops to that Art Deco looking services.
There are certainly a lot of sex shops on the A1. I do wonder who drives along and then suddenly realises they need an inflatable butt plug the size of a cantaloupe. The A1 is certainly more interesting. I drive it fairly frequently.
The sex shops appear mostly to be in former Little Chef buildings. I think there's one at Barnsdale Bar.
I would guess the thinking is...reps away from their wives for a few days....nobody will know if they stop off and...
I find the whole concept sordid in the extreme but to each their own.

And a few hotels of questionable repute (rom by the hour).

The A1 for me please, it has history. I always try and pick up some more of the things mentioned in this book every time I use it.

That and the fact that the traffic flows better and if I have to filter through the stationary stuff, it always feels more comfortable.
Cheers,
Tom

It would really help, OP, if you could tell from where to where, day of the week, time of day otherwise answers are little more than educated guesses or you might as well take a train.
Yep. North could mean anywhere really and, as we don't know where you're setting off from, it's all guesswork.sjj84 said:
Not used either for many a year, last time I used the m1 there was miles of road works at the London end. What's the current route of choice?
Going back fifty years to when the M1 was in its infancy there was a joke about the road surface. The M1 is not what it is Cracked up to be
