Hi all,
Will be taking the XK up to the Peak District for a few days soon and was wondering if there are any particular roads I should look out for? I know there's a fab road through the rock near Castleton, but that's more for pottering about and enjoying the view.

Any great driving roads?
Will be staying at Miller's Dale.
Thanks!

I live in the Peak District. There are a lot of good roads around Millers Dale.
To expand on your trip out to Winnets Pass:
You could have a drive out towards Wormhill and head for Peak Forest, from there get on the a623 and head towards Bradwell (left at the Anchor), drive up the long mile and down into Bradwell and Brough and then turn left at the Travellers out towards Hope and Castleton. Through Castleton and up Winnets pass to the Wanted Inn, which brings you back on to the a623. From the Wanted Inn turn back towards Peak Forest. Turn right at the lights in Peak Forest and head back to Miller Dale via Wormhill.
You also need to have a spin over the Cat and Fiddle. There are average speed cameras over most of it, but the only ones that are operational are the three on the long straight between Buxton and the Cat and Fiddle pub. I travel over the Cat and Fiddle every day in an Exige, it's a fabulous stretch of road (both driving and scenically).

Head north from Ashbourne on the A515, either fork right onto the B5056 at Fenny Bentley, or carry on a bit further, right through Tissington and the river ford just before you join the B5056. Follow that road north through Longcliffe, Grangemill, to the west of Winster, and then a superlative winding section down to join the A6.
Sadly speed limits creeping downwards over some of the best driving roads in the Peaks these days.

Thanks for the info. The road up to the Cat and Fiddle looks like a corker - the sort of well sighted A-road bends that are so rare 'round my way, and I wouldn't have thought to head out that way. Shame the pub is now closed...
It's worth a trip up there just to see what all the fuss is about. Providing it's dry and clear you'll have a lovely drive. You can see right across the Cheshire plain and out over Manchester from the top. It can be a bit murky up there though..... fog so thick you're frightened to open your windows in case it gets in the car The Stanley Arms is open and it's just off the Cat and Fiddle road:
As FiF said the Ashbourne road is a good run, as are many of the smaller roads off it.
There's also the A53 Leek road, and routes around Longnor and Hollingsclough that are circuits I often do if I want to go out for a spin.
Hope the weathers good for you.
