Cheers! Any reason you miss out the Evo triangle? Is it just average speed cameras now? I’d be in my GT86 so twistier roads are preferable.
Came back at the weekend from taking my GT86 upto to Wales. I've driven the evo triangle before and after the average speed cameras and still enjoy it for the views and tight and twisty sections and just the odd straights you need to let off the throttle and enjoy the views for a moment before chucking it into another bend. Last year I discovered the A490 and B4391 from Welshpool to Cerrigydrudion and I made a note to use it on the route to Wales and back which only adds about 25mines to the trip. Even in the 86 there are enough sections for passing slower stuff mid day although to get the best out of it leave before 8am.
A5 West from Betsw-y-coed had some nice wide twisting roads between the mountains that was pretty enjoyable.
Pic from what i think is the b4391 and my 86. A great reminder that power corrupts and these are such a great car when you can wind them up and throw them round the twisty sections.
Betws = bead-house, as in praying beads, so therefore a chapel; y coed = in the woods.

This is probably one of the most enthralling vids filmed on that road by Henry Catchpole for Carfection...

Looks good doesn’t it - there are a couple of sections where the GT3 is a bit on the wide side, so give me the Caterham every time!https://youtu.be/oaUCdAdaaj8

I followed some of the advice on this page on the B4391. It was all very helpful in the morning mist to know that sheep are between those 2 grids and that the road is indeed very interesting if you have an issue with heights.
I ended up having a half panic attack feeling like i'd been warped to that death-road in south America and have gopro footage of me going round at 10 mph in 5 feet of visibility breathing like I've got some fun company sat beside. Don't do this road if you are the slightest bit of a wuss and have lost any ability to drive at height.
The rest of the road advice such as Bala and around that area was perfect and you cannot turn your head in any direction in Wales without being battered by natural beauty, even the roads walled in through the forests are incredible.
This was at the last rest stop along a4212 by Llyn Celyn, i didn't even realise there's the metal tower in the water further up.

I was back in Wales on Saturday for the Caterham and Lotus Seven Club "Fish & Chip" run. Leaving home before dawn, I was expecting a clear and dry drive to the start-point in Chepstow. What I got was thick fog from Buckinghamshire to Gloucestershire, which only cleared once across the (original) Severn Bridge.
Driving with Brooklands screens in fog is an experience. The glass is treated with RainX to clear any collected droplets (no wipers fitted), but the RainX 'effect' only takes place when the windspeed / pressure is enough to 'push' the droplets off the glass – at about 60mph… so in fog, with near zero visibility, you need to hit '60' to clear the windscreen. It's easier under trees, as the fog is thinner, so reaching 60 is less daunting, but on B roads and minor roads across the Cotswolds, there were times when visibility was at a premium. Made it there and back in once piece, with about 17 hours driving in the Caterham.
Wales was mostly dry, and the quiet roads (despite 104 Sevens on the event) made it a great day.
