So not content with arbitrary speed restrictions most evenings between J4 & 6 the M42 was closed off this morning because of potholes between J3A & J3.
The hard shoulder has been riddled with potholes for over a week in both directions but nothing was done till one of the worst days of the year!
Its only been used like this for 2 weeks so it was obviously not checked for heavy use before the road improvements were started.
Nearly 2 hours to do a 35 minute journey because someone has not done their job properly.
I can't be the only one who thinks this, or am I?

I wonder if it coincides with end-of-tax-year budget spending, or just genuinely a badly planned job.

The roads are joke at night time, I wonder who makes the plans and do they check what other works are going on at the same time.

M6 last week, closed j15-16 not to bad as you can just go round the A500 dual carriageway 5 min diversion max, except they decided at the same time to close one lane of the A500 also, mass traffic jam.

M6 again closed 23-26, not a problem jump on the m62 and up the m61 10 min diversion, also closed the m61 entry to j2.

Why close the main alternative route to another closure.

The snow and ice will have made the potholes turn into craters at which point Highways actually have to do something about it.

It might cost a little bit more and cause inconvenience for a week but they should resurface where there are bad pothole issues instead of doing quick patch up jobs which wear away after a couple of months.
