This one beats the cat n' fiddle for me. Beautifull road, all combinations of corners, spectacular scenery, nice pub at the end and still very quiet at the right times of day. A few local nutters in all sorts of things with rollcages that kick around (from mini's to sierras) that will just cling to your bumper but never overtake even if you ease of for them...

yes Since I went past there not too long ago, that has been one of my favorite fast roads around here...

i know the feeling, i am from up that way, most of the caged up cars floating about ARE competition cars too! and its not that rare to see a RWD escort being driven in anger!

Take care though, there are some dickheads about - my one and only bike accident was on this road; a car lost it on a bend and hit me head-on yikes

I'm from Newtown and i agree the A483 is a good road for an enthusiastic drive, although it does see a fair few accidents especially during the winter.

Another favourite road of mine is the A44 from Llangurig over the mountains to Aberystwyth

I did this one on Saturday - brilliant bit of road: lovely smooth surface, fantastic scenery and a great drive. A few too many BiBs though...

I like the A44 to aberystwyth alot too. Only thing I find is alot of places where people may be pulling off / on to the road around blind bends. Need to be careful.

One of the finest roads, just a pity with all the slow traffic, it has 365 bends(somebody has counted them) but just so free flowing when u get a good run.

The best thing about the A44 from Llangurig to Aberystwyth is the way you can see 'around' the bigger bends onto the upcoming straights. This allows you to overtake safely around the bends when everyone else is slowing down.

I used the Newtown - Llandrindod wells road last week - unfortunately, the computer told me I had zero miles left in the tank only a few miles from Newtown, despite it reporting 35 miles whilst passing though Newtown. Great road, but I didn't really get to properly experience it as I was in fuel saving mode.

A44 is also good, but it's hard to get a decent, clear run at it.

I also often use this road when I'm going between Aberystwyth and Llandrindod Wells:
