Need to get from Cambridge to Heathrow as said above - 5pm on a Friday night. Not great timing of flights really! Any suggestions to avoid M11, A1, M25 to the A4 into Heathrow are greatly appreciated!!

Suprisingly, the M4 route into Heathrow isnt that much of a mess at rush hour.

The getting around the M25 I'm expecting to be the worst bit! Been on the M25 plenty of times up to M40 turn off. Everytime I turned off there, a queue seemed to be starting on the anti-clockwise carraigeway.

Think about going a little earlier and doing the North Circular - do this a lot from SW London to the M11 and dependant on time, it can be surprisingly better than expected.

A10 or A505 Royston, then A505 to Baldock, A1(M) to Hatfield, A414 to M25 jc 21a, either take M25 to LHR if clear or...

Alternative is A405 in to Watford, A412 to Uxbridge, A408 to Heathrow.

All are good routes I know well. A412 through Watford has possibly the highest speed camera infestation I know.

Many thanks for this route. While the AA where getting their blue highlighter and colouring pencils out on the TrafficWatch picture of the M25, I was charging down the A412 etc. Took 2hrs from Cambridge to walking thru the multi-story in terminal 3. Thats a good run IMHO.
