Driving holidays

Hello all,

I am thinking of planning my first driving holiday abroad.
Can anyone provide me with tips for my first time please?

Also any particulary good roads, hotels and places to see in France, for my route.

If anyone has completed a good trip and suggest a route / experiences that would also help.

Any help appreciated.

this last june, we stayed overnight in:
Dover
Honfleur
Le mans x 3 nights (24 hr. race)
Brioude
nr Grenoble
Castellane x 2 nights
Monaco x 2 nights
Paris

and visited:
millau bridge
gorge du tarn
gorge du verdon
french alps
route de napoleon








but it was rubbish !

Thanks for the info, think I may have to put some of them on my list judging by the pictures!

Anyone else recommend hotels roads etc.
