Visiting the Dordogne in June and will be taking a leisurely drive back to Calais over 2 days.
Any suggestions for routes to stretch the TVR?
Also looking for an ovenight stop about half way.

I did this last year.
Stopped off at the Chateau Challanges in Beaune, south of Djion. Nice town and in the wine region too.Calais is an easy drive from there.
Hope that helps!

i may have this wrong, but is Dijon a tad "out of the way" from sarlat to calais ?

if you fancy an "as the crow flies" trip, www.chateaudecharly.com is about two fifths into your intended journey.

worthwhile stopover but the owners are a bit ropey !

(only kidding, Jason)

I did that last year. Stayed at this place, which is about 10 miles from Le Mans. Website isnt great but the stay there was fantastic. 16th century chateau.

It was pretty much half way between Calais and where we were staying in the Dordogne.

As for routes, to be honest I let the sat nav take the strain. Did about half the journey using the autoroutes, then just let the sat nav take me the rest of the way, selecting the 'avoid motorway' option. Twas great. Some lovely empty roads, nice places to see.

Another midway stop over is this place. Nice enough place, but in a very small town that just had one very dodgy looking restaurant, so we had to drive to the next major town to go out for dinner.
