We are planning a week long driving holiday (in a TT and boxster) around the southern swiss alps in the second week of May. The current plan is to head to Interlaken, driving in a loop round to Bern, taking in the Grimsel and Furka Pass. Bit worried that the passes may be closed around this time of year - any thoughts on how we can find out as google hasn't turned anything up?

Has anyone done a similar trip in this area? Any top tips and recommendations of places to stay?

Not sure if these photos will appear but we went first week in June last year and it was stunning albeit one week earlier closed. The Furka Pass is quite wide so would have thought open sooner than some of the smaller ones.

We were going to do the same thing, but most passes will still be closed, we couldn't change dates so we're off to do Route Napoleon, Verdon etc in the South instead during first 6 days in May.

I did the Gimsel the summer before last, it's amazing, well worth going to. I was travelling to Interlaken from Lake Maggiore.

Enjoy!
