Umm Snap!

Whenever I drive up to that hairpin there are always a few old biddies who have parked up and are sat on the bench having a cup of tea so I usually entertain them by lighting up the rear tyres and sliding the car around the bend biggrin

After seeing this thread I managed to get some time on Monday to drive this road, along with a few others in the area, great fun, thought I would add another picture of that hairpin

and the works

also pulled together some video from the area Videos

Whilst on the A roads coming back was followed quite closely by a blue 530D on a 55 plate with very noticable square lights behind the front grille, let him go by after 15mins or so, also had an obvious strip light in the rear window, no uniforms mind you so not sure...

the usual day off work:

i might have a life. or not.

open hairpins, plenty of room to mess around with lift off oversteer

may have broken one of the bonnet catches:

soooo much fun without the risk of running into other vehicles.

One of the few advantages to having been a student in Aberystwyth was easy access to some stunning scenery and some fantastic roads. Left in 2005, seems like too long ago.....

I learned to respect these roads having rolled an AX GT off the A44 in my first year. Allowed me to change to RWD, however, and I then proceeded to run around in a '73 MG BGT smile

Ah, happy times.....

I live just 15 mins away, I really should go up more often as I find something of interest every time.

If you like your history there are some fairly recently uncovered pill boxes overlooking Foel Tower. It was protected by 2 pill boxes, the distant shot shows the one pill box on the right of the picture. The other pill box is at the same level but hidden behind the trees on the left of the shot, which is shown in the close-up shot.

It was protected because it was the valve tower which was the starting point for the pipeline shipping the water off to Birmingham (imagine a city the size of Birmingham being totally cut off from its main water supply....)

Also there is a mini dam that has be destroyed by none other than a Mr Barnes Wallis. Tests were made at small scale for the effective detonation of the bouncing bomb used in the Dambusters raids.

Try here if you're interested in looking further.

was a briliant day in elan valley today. A lot of ice but nice crisp sunlight. got some good pictures of the volvo.

it was running a bit rich

The ice was very thick as the water was only a few inches deep

anyway we had a lot of fun trying to get decent action shots of volvoness.

and saw this. waved a lot
