Roads / routes in West and Mid Wales
Discussion
Hello
My partner and I will shortly be spending a long weekend driving up the west coast of Wales.
Can any of you recommend any nice roads, routes, stop-off points, points of interest, etc? Anything that'd appeal to a petrolhead, really. Be very much appreciated
Thanks all

By west coast do you mean Pembrokeshire? Some people think South Wales is Swansea, which is around 80 miles from St Davids in Pembrokeshire (which really is South West Wales).
If you are heading to Pembrokeshire I'd recommend driving from Haverfordwest to Broadhaven, then heading towards Newgale from Broadhaven and then heading towards St Davids from there.
You should definitely head to Angle. When you get to the car park there's a cafe on your left and on the opposite side of the car park there is a path that leads off to the right, follow that, when the route divides take the left hand path and it'll lead you to a secluded little beach. When we went there last we had the place to ourselves.
Avoid Pembrokeshire tourist attractions at all costs!!
If you want somewhere to eat The Stable Inn in Burton (near Pembroke Dock) is a nice informal place to eat. The people who own it run it as a family business and their all lovely and the food is always good, and reasonable.
If your more Carmarthen area, The Fig Tree in Llanarthne is a fantastic place to eat. Its a little more formal but the service is fantastic. On a nice day you have drinks outside so you can admire the beautiful view, you decide what you'd like to eat and they show you to your table indoors when your meal is ready. If there's just two of you, ring and book and ask for the best table. They should know which one you mean, you get a view through both windows and can see all the best parts of the view outside from that one table!

He he. No, I meant the 'real' West Wales - so, like you said, Pembroke and beyond.
That's really helpful. Thanks very much for all the info.
BTW, why is that people think "West Wales" is the Gower and that sort of area?

Only people in Swansea think such things. I really don't understand it.
If its this weekend you are travelling down there's a hill climb at Llys Y Fran country park on Sunday. Llys Y Fran is Haverfordwest area.
If your coming another weekend, let me know and I'll check the calender to see if there's anything local on.

I enjoy the drive from Tenby through to Pembroke, a few nice little drives around here. Not much happens round here, didn't know there were any hillclimbs though.
Only lived in Pembroke a year though, I'm English really (although I try to keep it quiet!)
