Feeling the need for a bit of a road trip... UK Only.
Discussion
I'm feeling the need for a bit of road trip.
But, funds are a little tight at the minute, are work is mental, so I'd like to stick to the UK.
So, where in the UK is good for a long weekend road trip? Granted I know this covers most of the country, but hey...
TIA
Martin
PS: Have always had a bit of a hankering for the Isle of Mull, don't know why.

i know a land where there are no speed limits, no motorways and no speed cameras.
also a thirteen mile stretch of the finest twisty tarmac surface ever to be found.
.... but i'm not telling you where it is, 'cos we want to keep it for ourselves !

It depends where you're coming from. If you're in the north then the scottish highlands are a must.
If you're in the south then I'd suggest going to Wales for the weekend.
Both locations have amazing roads - scotland probably has MORE, but if you're only going for a weekend it doesn't really matter

It's a good question... I did mean to mention starting location in the OP.If you're in the south then I'd suggest going to Wales for the weekend.

I'm in South Lincs, so I don't know if the Highlands is a bit of a stretch for 3 days?

However, I am insane.
If you get to the Highlands make sure you go round by Applecross. Awesome. I wasn't driving and already thinking about taking a blast up myself! From there up to Durness and across to Thurso is very interesting. Loads of singletrack roads with the odd blast of two lanes and breathtaking scenery.
Can only think of one police car we saw in the whole 5 day trip. Even that wasn't a traffic car.

If you haven't sorted anything yet, I can suggest some good routes (starting Peterborough)through Lincs, Yorkshire towards the borders. You could then come back via the Lakes and the Peak district.
Easily doable in a weekend.
Ping me an e-mail if you want more details.
Depending when you're going might also be interested in joining you if you want company.
