A few pics from up that way, and down towards Glencoe. Most are just scenery, however they give you an idea of what to expect up there smile

Believe me, it's worth it.

No. Really. It is.

And that's not the only great road up there!

I'm in Bournemouth but have been yearning to return there since February. I have a fortnight of as of Monday, but i'm not sure I can hack a whole day in a Puma just to get there though. Maybe if I had a Ferrari 550 or something...

Does anybody know what the weather is 'normally' like towards the end of November there ?? I know it can probably change within 20 minutes but is it worth the risk of going there or is it just going to be a wash out ??

its cold but usually wet as opposed to snowy, the west coast is gererally quite, erm, moist. Getcarter lives up there somewhere in a vast mansion, he'd probably be the best person to ask.

Yep, it does tend to be wet and very misty on the top in November which of course, obscures all the views.

Best time to hit the West Highlands is April/May or September. The road are less busy and the weather (while always unpredictable!) is usually at its best and the midgies are slightly less ferocious!

The coast run between Applecross and Shieldaig looking over to Skye, Raasay and Rona takes some beating.

As someone who spent a lot of his life up there ,I'd say (unless it gets freek weather ) littlechance of snow till January/February ----chances of ice - but then you'll see prenty of deer in that case .Expect it to be cold (especially for a southerner- after 35+ years dawn sath(midlands) , I still dont feel the cold ) - sea water can freeze on rocke on the shores further north ---but if you drive with sense -you'll not come off --that's spoken after driving BMC rear wheel cars on the Highlands roads as a kid .

Yes deer ,and BTW -the smaller ones can look like shaggy German Shepherds( with /without horns ) .And if you've ever met a Stag in the rutting season (when deer are deer and men get very nervous ) , rolleyes--say no more .Nice on yer plate ,but not so nice in the flesh with twelve points pointing at yer innards .(and another thing pointing elsewhereeek)

What he said.

Although Nov has been stunning so far. No rain, amazing colours, very mild & lots of sun.
