Went up to Snowdonia for a bit of a cheapo walking mini-break this week. Obviously couldn't resist a bit of driving whilst we were there...

Turned up to a very wet, miserable car park on day 1:

And had an explore:
.

After an aborted Tryfan attempt with the girlfriend, decided to go to one of my fave cafes and drink hot chocolate:

Day 2. The weather was brightening up:
,
so conquered a very snowy Snowdon before heading off to the 'Evo triangle' for some laps. This confused the girlfriend, who has concluded I am a loser for taking photos of my car on a road:

(Like this one, very 'Evo'?!)

before it got too dark and we headed off to the pub...

Day 3 weather was very wet again, so had a look round a slate museum and the Electric Mountain before returning South. Couldn't resist another lap of the triangle and Horseshoe pass on the way back:

The Corrado performed faultlessly, but doesn't feel that fast... I have come to conclude that this is because a) it is very smooth compared to my old S2000 and b) it isn't actually very fast! Lovely sounding though, just could do with a bit more of a vocal exhaust...

Also had 4 new Hankook R-S2 tyres fitted last week, so the moulding agent was gone by Wales. I know it is difficult comparing new for old, especially seeing as 2 of the tyres I replaced were a make I'd never head of... but they seemed excellent. Lots of tread, so pretty good wet grip (though prob not as good as GSD3s I've had on other cars) and really sticky in the dry, especially once up to temperature. Needed a bit more air in them than VW recommend, and took 2 mpg off my cruising economy; also they are also a bit noisier, but nothing too bad. All in, I think they are great for £59 a corner, and shall be using them again.

Evo triangle was fun, and in fact lots of the roads round there are great - but nor 4 hours in the car better than round me I don't think!

Good pics! Poor weather though. I took a few pics of a borrowed S2000 in that same layby on the horseshoe pass. It was a much better day weatherwise for me though, and these were only taken at about 7am, having left Stoke at 5:30ish. No traffic FTW! By half ten the roads were swarming.

Agreed. cool

This was my first real handling test for the C4...and I was pleasantly surprised! Compare it to a 10-year old C-segment car and they really have come on leaps and bounds. It's just a shame there are so few cheap RWD cars being made now.
