I've just come back from a few days in Spain. Away from the main roads along the Costa del Sol, we found some superb roads inland through some beautiful Spanish pueblos blancos. There were some really twisty sections through the hills and some amazing views (for your passenger). The surfaces were generally smooth, but there was a complete lack of kerbs or verges and some very steep drops by the side of the roads!
Here's an example of the A372 from Arcos de la Frontera to Grazamela.

Marbella-Ronda road is getting worse and worse unfortunately. The GC are almost always on it and I´ve even heard it mentioned that they are going to put speed cameras on it.
To be honest I never really rated it, its quite wide and lacks any danger (other than suicidal bikers). As mentioned there are some fantastic roads inland that deserve a drive if you happen to be down this way!

Geoff, looks like you've had some fun. I'm driving down next weekend for a couple of weeks of fun, including a track day at a secret location, but having had to endure years of caning hire cars (think Daewoo Matiz) I'm looking forward to taking mine. The Ronda area is a bit crowded these days, in much the same way the Route Napoleon became the 'in road' once Evo found out about it and I suspect now they've discovered Grazalema/Zahara the same will apply but there are still hundreds of kilometers of fun to be had in Axarquia around Colmenar and up to Alhama de Granada.
Pretty much pick a twisty road on a map and the chances are you'll find a strip of Euroland funded smooth tarmac to let rip on. The other advantage of Spain, is that the roads are still relatively deserted with relatively disciplined drivers - modern day Alonso wannabes in their tractor fuelled Tdi's excepted, especially on motorways who become desperate to overtake you, but once having done so retire once honour is restored!
