On Thursday me and a mate are going to be doing this route around South Wales.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&a...

The olnly thing is im not sure what time to start the run as ive got to get there from East Devon and avoid all the traffic on the m5/M4 but also want to start fairly early in wales. Soo what time do you guys start your mid week runs and do you have any more idea for my route?

Cheers.

I would think you should be looking to leave Ponty around 10ish (misses the morning rush and school runs).

I have amended the route a little - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&a...

Take it easy, most of these roads can be enjoyed within the national speed limits, watch out for plod/cameras/etc, but most of all enjoy. biggrin

Well in the end I ended up going for a 865 mile drive through Wales! Covered the Brecons, black mountains and the stunning area around snowdonia. Will sort out the pics and make the route in the next couple days smile

Heres some of the pics I took on my massive 865 mile road trip through Wales. It started off as a 100 mile drive around the Brecons but steadily grew as the weather and the roads were so good. The car never skipped a beat even after all the abuse it was given and only needed a tiny bit of oil yesterday afternoon. Even with leaking shocks it still handled really well with the Toyo Proxeys gripping like poo to a blanket!

The first half of day one I was driving with Martin off of FFOC which always makes it more interesting. Highlights of the day included the A4069 black mountain road and the B4520 to Builth Wellis. The very best bit was me chasing a bmw 5 series along a B road from Rhyader up to Commins Coch. Never had so much fun driving a car chucking it over crests and cutting corners :angel_not:

Stop on the A470 for Bacon and Egg bap biggrin

On the A4069 Black Mountain road that Top Gear and Evo magazine use!

Guess the car

BnB for the Night, the Foelas Arms in Pentrefolas. Cheap but clean and comfy, plus its on the bottom left corner of the Evo Triangle.

Day two was another great day on the road exploring around the stunning scenery of Snowdonia and the Elan Valley. The day started with a few laps of the Evo triangle which is every petrol heads dream playground. Wide open corners with wide open countryside so you can see what's coming and cut the bends. Spent an hour and a half there before and scamra vans came along.

Evo Triangle

Reservoir in the middle of the triangle.

Sheep

The stunning scenery of Snowdonia. Wish I could have spent longer there but time was getting on.

Elan Valley

And finally found these weird prints on the back of my car when we was in Llandovery

All the rest of the pics... yes theres more can be found here.

Cheers biggrin

Hi Alastair.

A friend and I plan a hoon about Wales very soon.

We plan to start north Wales and head down to south Wales for the Sunday.

So Friday for north Wales - Evo Triangle, thinking about heading a bit more into Snowdonia, any good ideas for a route. We were planning on heading to mid Wales/ Elan Valley that day/ evening also.

Saturday we hoped to start with the Elan Valley and head down to the Black Mountains.

Sunday we wanted to be within an hour or two's (max) drive of Cardiff to join onto the south Wales PH run.

Any favourite roads to get in?

David
