twisty roads in northern France?
Discussion
i am pretty new to this site so please be gentle!!
i am trying to find the best route from Calais, heading west across the northern coast road and then dropping down to the Loire Valley but want to miss out toll roads! are there any decent twisty/scenic routes this way or are all the best roads in Southern France? planning a 3/4 day trip so detours are possible.
Any help would be appreciated! cheers.

Agree with Davey...last year I went to the Le Mans Classic, meeting mates down there.
Did try using the ferry crossing time to hurredly plan a route that avoided the autoroute to Rouen, but as it happened, ended up meeting some great blokes in front of me on the car deck, who invited me to tag along - their mission was to go completely off piste all the way to LM. Think we also avoided Rouen completely - not a bad thing!
Couldnt for the life of me re trace the route (unhelpfully for you) but it wasn't a million miles away from the main roads, and despite being wet, was a cracking drive.
Took bloody ages though! Instead of the usual arrival at 2.00 to our campsite, I seem to remember it was more like 5.00 (although we did have decent lunch break)
Generally avoid anything on the map that looks Roman and straight and you prob wont go too far wrong.
