Has any one got any suggestions of good hooning type roads that can be enjoyed in the night? You know the type, lightly trafficked and perhaps decently lit!

I am looking for some in the North west area.

No help what so ever, but the road from Winchester to Stockbridge is great at night. Flowing corners with those new LED cats eyes. Its like driving/riding in a computer game.

In the north west, the dual carriageway alongside Bassenthwaite Lake is great fun! Pretty much a personal race track when used at the right time!

Not a good choice of words, trust me!

That section beside the lake is also to get Cumbria's first SPECS if I remember rightly.

M6 from the midlands to the Lake district in utter darkness, ariving at the best roads with the sun coming up and the best chillout/trance music on whilst overtaking all the lorries.

the Lake District is full of great roads with little traffic at night (away from July/August)

Hardknott and Wrynose Passes to the west of Ambleside

Honister Pass south of Keswick

and lots in between

mainly classic night road rally roads

Also many to the east of the M6 in north Lancs - Trough of Bowland for example

etc

easiest thing to do is buy a road atlas (or borrow one) and look at the yellow / white roads (not the OS Map whites unless you really know them) with little or no hamlets / villages
you will probably not see any other vehicle on them - especially plod

Infact why not get yourself over to a few road rallys.

gives you an excuse to drive out at night.

If you fancy a blast over to Chesterfield the VK rally is on the 27th of March which starts from there.
