Citroen ZX 16v
Discussion
My 2nd car was a 1.9i volcane, I was young and muppetised it, but was brilliant fun.
The gf (now wife) hated it, but had my best drives in that car...

(I can justify the bonnet pins, it was trying to lift at speed before those!)
(I can't justify the headlight eyebrows.. I was young... )

parts arent too difficult, except for specific 16v parts like wings, bodykit etc, rear hatch glass with holes for spoiler interior trim etc. but i have a healthy stock of these spares.
rear suspension is vary similar to 306's and interchangable, front again is very similar but the spring platform on the struts is at a different height, engine and gearbox the same as the 306 S16 and later 405 mi16. brakes are all interchangble as 306. cat back same exhaust as gti 6 and s16.
the problem is actually trying to get hold of the car!

I actually think my 1.9i volcane was a better drive than the 16v, mine was a five door too, shame they didnt make it look as exciting as the 16v.
The volcane was a pretty fluid handler too, a bit softer, much less "darty" on the steering etc. Great fun in the wet. The 16v ultimately was a lot more "decisive" with less body roll and a much more precise feel to it. Mine however was a bit of a shocker when i first bought it. I turned into a long sweeping 60+mpg bend and the back stepped out straight away, well no probs there, thats what they do, but i wasn't ready for it to step out and be caught about 5 times in the same corner! As Charlie Cox used to say whilst doing the BTCC commentary "I was busier than a 1 handed wall paper hanger"..... ;-)Got the car on a ramp after that, well, some of the car was on the ramp, because when i lifted it up the rear beam actually fell off the car. It had been "stuck on" with silicone sealant
Turns out that the last owner had got the car through it's last MOT by not replacing the rear compliance bushes but by just trying to stick them back together.
A full set of Peugeot Sport GpN beam mounts and an uprated rear ARB transformed the car into something really rather special in the twisties ;-)
