Sounds a belting plan.

Beemer has test tomorrow....... If she fails badly, there's a severe temptation to mothball and get modifying.

Know where there's a 4litre beemer V8 going spare...... Mate that to a manual box, keep 320 badging, and get busy wink

Actually yes.....

http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&am...

You'll need a 530 gear box as the six pot boxes aren't up to the task. It's a fairly straight forward swap and you can buy things like engine mounts and exhausts tailored for the conversion. I think the air con' pump will have to be junked as it fouls the steering colum.

You shouldget o the PPC forum and pick up the Mag from WH Smiths. It's scarey how many people know so much. Other lesser car tuning magazines are available but I don't bother with any of them now.

aint on the forum, but do but the mag when I see it.

Gave up on the other tuning mags when it became clear that you needed a £50k car and £100k cash spare to achieve anything

You'd love the £999 Challenge then. Propper blokes in sheds grass routes motorsport before corprate bs and health and safety spoiled it for everyone. thumbup

I do already. Know all about it.

If someone wanted to buy the tourer off of me, I'd bank most the money, and then be on with a caged/stripped 1400cc K series powered metro.

I'm having to run my invisible car this year because I'm on £1200 a month less than I was before and can't afford to do a prober build. Should come in at about £400 when I'm done so £599 for next year.

Having said that £949 to spend on the van instead? scratchchin

K-series Metros usually end up in the middle of the order with the E36's. wink

Money's my limiting factor. A year ago I was making 50% a month more than I am now... Plus got loved up. So money to blow on projects is limited.

How about a 1600vtec (160 horse) lobbed into a metro?

B23 Honda or Rover T16 in the back surely. wink

(KV)6R2?

There is a chap building a twin engined Metro this year. Hope he finishes in time because when I was writing for Mini World I had a go in a twin 1380 Mini pick up that could out drag an M3. driving

Taking a longer look at the other sub frames on eBay. I could bin the shocks and springs and fit a pair of airbags. wink

1997-1998-ish I was still a student.

There was a twin XE Clubman Estate in PPC a couple of months ago and a chap on the forum has built an award winning twin V6 Citroen C2.

So here's the plan....

Mount the front arms where the front of the leaf springs fit the chassis. Fabricate a pair of plates so the subframe can be mounted with the standard shock mounts and mount a pair of shorter shocks inside the springs. Then it just a case of making a set of mounts for where the antiroll bar lines up.

What could go wrong?

I'll be keeping it dirty so come M.O.T time it won't look like "it was like that when I bought it". wink

Sounds a plan. Somewhat fortunately/unfortunately the beemer flew through it's MOT only needing a pair of flexes on the front.

So no bdising for it. May well try and flog it, then bank the cash

If you want a cheap £999 Challenger I have a 106 XS (8-valve and more reliable/tunable version of the 106 GTI) for £400. Taxed until the end of September and M.O.T'd until October. Owned by a numpty who forgot the immmobiliser code and jumped on the bonnet when it wouldn't start. Also typically 106 the rear tortion bars has been dropped as low as it can go and the hamfisted job done to the arches to get a set of Saxo VTR wheels to fit match the bonnet dents nicely. wink

Strip it out and fit Pollycarbonate windows for a low 15 second quarter and sweet handling car. driving

I have it as a back up in case the Rover decides it doesn't need to start any more and I can't get the "Guff" racing Cinquecento is finished for the event. wink

If by chance I shift the beemer, it's what I'd be looking for.

Until then, pockets are emptier than Katie Price's moral chamber, and the driveway resembles some form of classic car dealership
