I'll chirp up.
I don't really hate any car but I have developed a deep loathing for Golfs because they typify the sort of car that dimwits like George H covet, the sort of person who is more concerned with land of origin than the car itself.
And yes, I always open these threads in the hope that it'll be the Nissan.
Sorry OP.

Just to add some context to this I utterly love Japanese cars and have had a lot of the best ones. I completely adore the Skylines especially the R32 but particularly the wonderful original GTR. However, I use my car for 20,000 miles a year for work and and with bills and responsibilities a potentially ruinous supercar such as a 'real' R32 just wouldn't cut it for me at the moment. Also worth mentioning my late Grandad was one of the first to have Toyota cars in the UK (selling and maintaining them) so they are very much in my blood.I don't really hate any car but I have developed a deep loathing for Golfs because they typify the sort of car that dimwits like George H covet, the sort of person who is more concerned with land of origin than the car itself.

I wouldn't tar me or other Golf owners/dimwits with the same brush either. I've had a few Golfs but that's because I like them and have been ideal daily cars, pretty much without fault. But I've also owned a few cars that are polar opposites of ze German car for ze masses
MR2 G-Limited Anniversary Ed
MR2 GT Turbo
MR2 GTS Turbo
Honda Civic Type-R
2007 Impreza WRX STI
Celica GT-Four
Eunos Roadster S-Special
All pretty much not Golfs huh?
However I've also had this lot, many at the same time as that lovely selection of Eastern metal:
Golf GTI Turbo
Golf GTI
Golf V6 4motion
Golf GTI 25thAnniversary
The whole idea of PH is that we have variety on here. There is no place for abusive comments (none aimed at me thankfully) but a healthy discussion on cars and our own unique tastes.
Thanks for the kind comments on the new car, it really is a good one and I'm glad you like it as much as I do. I don't buy the normal boring cars, I like the ones with a bit of something special to them regardless of which part of the world they come from. It just happens that at the moment we have two very good and rather unique Golfs on the drive way. But the missus will need to trade for a 4 door when we have kids so the 25th Anni will have to go at some point and I don't see why a nicely kept WRX won't fit the bill, you know, just for some variety...

Mate, you're making an arse of yourself. This was a thread about people wanting to see a Skyline (not unsurprising given the name) then complimenting the OP on his rather nice VW.
Erm no, this "was" a thread about the OP's Golf, which several people somehow turned into an arguement about Golf Vs Skyline which I doubt he gives a ste about anyway.Nice car though OP, I've always liked the R32's more than the equivilent GTI's.
