I also have the XKER so my driving time is shared, and both aren't driven as often as I would like. I am hoping to attend the Sandown race course event on Saturday the 3rd Sept with both cars, (Son driving the Lightweight). If your local pop over for a chat.

Regards

Ok, more pics and details of this one too! That lightweight is a thing of beauty! A credit to you.

There is a ton of this stuff on the website my son built at www.patsetypes.co.uk including a Mk1 Lotus Cortina clone I built. Hope you enjoy

Stunning car, do you have any detailed photos of your gear linkage?

I think the best I have got is below, in essence it is very straight forward with 2 ball joints and a length of threaded rod, make up an end bracket to fit on the gearbox and weld on a gear lever to 2 curved plates, it sounds more complicated than it is really. If you are contemplating using an ex XJS getrag you will need to cut off about 1/2" of selector shaft tunnel.

Same Getrag as the XJ40 - the 265?

I'm often toyed with the idea of fitting an XJR6 in my car but questioned if the gearbox could take the torque

Many thanks, the Getrag is the one I use on my Ram D-type but I've cranked the gear leaver forward but it gives masses of movement which isn't good for quick gear changes. Are the two plates and lever only attached to the selector shaft or is there a mount on the box at the selector end?

Sorry for the delay I missed your post, new at this PH stuff.

The back end of the linkage is welded to a square which is drilled to the dia of the selector shaft and retained by a pin, which held in place by either a spring clip or lock wire. You are correct with the lever and plates being attached to the selector shaft
