It has sentimental value, for similar reasons - and he's owned it for so long it's practically part of the family.
The replacement 1.8 engine should go quite well, the original 1.2 was a heady 45bhp - it will now have a screaming 120 bhp

There's a good reason nobody should have good car as their first car because typically people wreck their first.
There a good reason why people should have a good first car because they will always feel an affection for their first. I mean, mine was a Marina Coupe and I have always vaguely hankered after a minter but never found one. I was looking recently and prices are majorly on the up with good ones in TC guise hitting prices of £5K and up.
Having said the above, but Corsa!
Sorry, I know I shouldn't judge, but Corsa!

The man’s given us the reason and it’s a very valid one. He’s not going to scrap a perfectly good rebuild ‘because Corsa’....

Exactly! You're missing the point TyreTread.
Anyhow, back to our scheduled programming.
The upgraded upper and lower intake manifold has arrived and they look great (pics to follow), it is going to allow a lot more air and thanks to the Mass Air conversion on the town car, fueling won't be an issue.
Sadly, I had a major set back with the EGR spacer and throttle body. I managed to find one via eBay in the USA, but it has been seized and disposed of by eBay's global shipping team. Apparently it had some fuel/chemical vapors that set off their scanners. Once this happens the item will be removed and both seller and buyer will be refunded.
How this is legal god only knows but there's no recourse sadly, this means that my plans are delayed until I can find an alternate source for the part.

Having read your whole thread I was so pleased you’d found your actual car you regretted selling all of those years ago. It’s very warming to hear such a positive story.
In regards to the following...
All the best.

I've still not managed to locate a egr spacer sadly.
Is this just a flat plate? If so, I may be able to produce you one. I would not want any payment for it, it would just be nice to help! All the best.
Update time!
I've managed to locate two new front fenders and they are on their way to me! Likely will cost £5-600 all in to get them here after tax, duty and shipping but still cheaper than trying to repair the old ones.
I also happened upon a set of 4 replacement wheels in the U.K, which is highly unusual they only cost £125 plus £35 shipping so a relative bargain considering the one I got shipped from the US cost far more, and it didn't have the studs for the center cap!
All I need to do is find a suitable refurbisher for them and then get the current tyres swapped over.

Looking superb. I do love the story and the commitment.
Thanks! Hopefully we are getting close to having it ‘finished’. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to afford the respray this year as I imagine it would be somewhere in the emerging of £8-10k?But the new front wings and other bodywork tidying should help make it a little more presentable at least.

The EGR spacer and throttle body have been seized again! Even after they were shot blasted.
I give up, I really do.
So, not an ideal time, but we must be able to get a US pistonheads chap to recieve it from Ebay and an international travelling pistonheads chap bring it in as luggage. If you're still struggling by October, I'm going to NYC (I hope) and will be the courier home. The EGR spacer and throttle body have been seized again! Even after they were shot blasted.

Managed to get through to the storage place and confirm a pick up for tomorrow! I'll take the car for a quick spin to see how its feeling and then it's off for rust repair.
Whilst the car has been locked away, Chris @ Back to life cars has moved to Chelmsford, so I have arranged a car transporter to take the Town Car to the new location. I also have a range of parts to drop off (including some new wings!).
Things the car is booked in for:
Replace front wings
Rust repair rear quarter (and general rust inspection)
Headlight wiring
Taillight conversion
Fit replacement headlamp doors
Check out power steering pump as I think it might be leaking
Investigate explorer intake installation
