1988 Mitsubishi Shogun 2.6 HT BBR Turbo
Discussion
An update with some pics!
Car has been with the body shop for a month or so now the rust was quite severe in places and needed a lot more work than originally anticipated has had a big repair around the windscreen and one of the rear arches was a mess. Luckily Simon gave me a couple of rear arch repair panels which were for a SWB shogun but the arch line was perfect and we was able to use that. Gone for a complete colour change to Land Rover santorini black. insides of wheel arches are being stone chipped & bumpers painted black.
Hoping to have it back before Christmas then I can start on the interior and tidying up the engine bay
a couple of pics of the rusty bits before it went in
excited to see it finished will have custom BBR decals done for the rear quarters like the one shown below
(no idea why this picture is sideways)
Found this lovely little period BBR badge on eBay that Weill be going on it somewhere too.
will sort some new wheels for it eventually will keep this thread posted once its back from paint.

The Shogun came back from the bodyshop a few weeks ago and looks fantastic in its new colour the best its looked for a very long time.
Still a lot of jobs to do the body work is nearly there just needs the period decals done, a change of wheels & MOT time soon brake lines need attention.will get these done asap.
a few pics of how its looking now.
All light lenses have been replaced also will get some new headlights shortly.
Got hold of another Shogun to use for parts its a late model turbo diesel with a knackered engine but it has many parts that are good for mine including the full wood trim kit with steering wheel, the door cappings are in bad shape needs veneering will Get this done in the new year and sell the rest of the shogun on once I'm done with it.

I believe that's an Italvolanti steering wheel - wow what a rarity that is! Great save, along with the rest of the trim that is a great donor vehicle for the project.
I've read this thread over the past week and have to say its been one of my favourites - TurboBlue's dedication and helpful local workshop, digging into the project history and now what a transformation to black! Brilliant to see and such a splendid vehicle. Hopefully Mitsubishi have wind of this!

Thanks all for the kind comments, I do sometimes think I'm mad for the amount of time and effort this thing is taking up, none of my other cars are getting a look in at the moment!
I've been scouring the internet for info on other BBR converted shoguns there's not much out there at all It's great if this is the last one still going makes me more determined to keep on at it.
I did find this for sale advert for the shogun back in 2009 with pics !!

What a difference 10 years makes from reading the comments it was lucky it wasn't scrapped back then.
I did intend to repaint it in the original colour but I didn't really like the blue I thought the black and gold combo would be 80s cool.
Done a few more bits on it today started on the brake lines and fixed the boost gauge and inclinometer, the fluid was long gone in the inclinometer and google suggested that you can refill these with baby oil.
The back of the units plastic cover was cracked I managed to stick a syringe through the crack and refill with a 100ml of baby oil. Re sealed the plastic with JB Weld and the job was done, well chuffed I know it's the small things.
The boost gauge vac pipe had came off the carb a quick fix for that too.
Do have pics but they don't seem to work using this sites uploader for some reason
