That's pretty bloody impressive, when you see "mass-produced" (in comparison,) kits like Caterhams fail their first IVA, when they have a lot more experience of the procedure.

Well done!

Nice one smile

Idiot question though (sorry) - With those mirrors and other rear lights removed, is this an issue for road legality?

Rocket.

What IVA stuff was required? fog light, reversing light and mirrors I can see but is there much else? The rear wheels are narrower but i guess thats just for the trailer?

Congrats on the pass btw!

Happy days!

You absolutely deserve to feel smug, passing first time is a just reward for your attention to detail. bowtie

Oh yeah, ETA I love the way that the GT40 is about the same height as the tow-car - when it's on the trailer! hehe

Looks like an A6 so 57in or so. GT40 stands at 40.5, Brian James trailer bed height about 16.5in...exactly the same!

Even though building one I find it easy to forget how low they are as mine is still on build stands...so it's actually small SUV height. Except the "floor" is ~800mm off the ground. laugh

Hell of an achievement, well done.
Smugness is absolutely allowed.

Bet you can’t wait to drive it now!

Thanks for the comments still on cloud nine...

Been busy though and getting the car ready for paint, bought some different wing mirrors, just taped on at the moment while I finalise their position but seem to offer a good view.

Got someone coming over tomorrow to quote for the paint, exciting but have a horrible feeling it will be depressingly expensive :rolletes:

I'd consider getting a wrap instead of paint perhaps?

Probably not far off or even cheaper than a proper paintjob.

Maybe go for a topaz skin ( or similar ) about 4-5k and removable. can match any paint code and you could then change it in the future if you decided too with ease.

Beautiful car and a really good job, you must be really pleased.

Out of interest how cramped is the interior?

Sounds like a good idea but not really an option, there is a huge amount of bodywork to do, in fact that is where the money is not in the paint and to be honest it would always be half a job, I’ve spent a huge amount of time and effort and not to mention money on this car so now is not the time to cut corners...

I’ve met with a painter today and think I will be going with him to do the work, probably not in time to enjoy this summer but certainly ready for next. That said I intend to get a good few hundred miles on it before paint so will still have fun biggrin

Hmmmm there’s a question...

By modern standards it’s a tad tight but to be fair it’s perfectly comfortable for me (says the man who’s driven all of 2 miles in it), time will tell but so far so good. I’ve room to put the seat back an inch if I grow and room to rest my left leg so I’m hopeful at this stage...

Well done, that must be a huge milestone ticked off.

Do you have any target date when you want it to be completely finished?
