Having owned the car for so long, and knowing a fair bit about them, i did a XR4i history thread a few months back.
If you are interested and missed it?

Was just having a browse on auto trader around my local area, like you do and came across this Ad. Thought I recognised the plate and returned to this thread!

Colleague of a good friend of mine bought a brand new white one in 1982.
My most vivid memory of it was doing 130 in it 4 up and loaded with camping gear on the M56 on the way to Abersoch.
There was a Jag XJ on our tail for a good 10 miles as you pass Helsby.
Great car. He replaced it with a brand new RS500.
Unfortunately no camping trip in that car :-(

Always a soft spot for the XR4i as it is the fastest I have ever been on public roads as a passenger in one.
Ditto :-)See my post above.
Not fast by today's standard but back then my dads Mk1 cavalier 2.0 LS felt like it was going to swerve of the road when I maxed it on the M61 at an indicated 115!
The XR4i just felt so stable at that speed.

Not sure if you are aware of the back ground on the "NOO`s" but to bolster XR4i sales in Aug/Sept 83 they registered, around 50/60 cars for mostly for middle management with a high spec, the majority of these car were registered on the 27th Sept 83 and were ran for around 6 months. It looks likely that yours was such a car.Died in 2002 though. Date of Liability 01 07 2002
Date of First Registration 27 09 1983
Year of Manufacture 1983
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2792cc
CO₂ Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour WHITE
