Spotted you in the CSL today near (my) home. Looking good, and you were about to head up a decent stretch of road, too.
Yes, I did go out for a quick blast round. Trying to work out where you must be.. Bradfield ?

Last weekend I headed off to Gaydon with a bunch of other CSL owners for the Ultimate BMW meet. I had a really great day out, meeting or re-meeting some of the other guys from the CSL forum and WhatsApp group. Lots of interesting cars to look at, and the museum as well.

Only minor downside, a few tts with pops&bangs maps who were determined to show them off. And I'm sure you've all seen the video on social media of the bloke falling off the back of the convertible he was riding around on !

Totally by chance, I ended up parked opposite my old E36 which I mentioned earlier in the thread. The current owner really went to town on it, it's been fully rebuilt and repainted and now has an S54 engine in it. I prefer the original unmodified look, but you can't argue that he's not done a quality job on it.

We messed about for ages getting the cars lined up.

I liked this pair of LSB E46s:

I don't think this chap was a pops&bangs culprit:

I was behind him in the relentless queue to get in, was just mindlessly revving his engine banghead

I’ve just found and really enjoyed reading your thread outnumbered. Especially the car, I mean BMW, history from father and on to son.

Reading through your 10 years of CSL ownership has been a privilege. Here’s to the next 10 years.

But it strikes me that the real hero in this thread is Mrs Outnumbered for moving deftly from a diesel 5 GT to an M5!

I went to there too and was really impressed by your CSL line-up. thumbup

And the row of E9s too - such stunning cars.

There were quite a few other E46 M3s there as well and I had a good chat with a few of the owners.

I slipped up by not booking quick enough to get in the display area, just the general car park. Which was a shame as I took my Z4M Coupe and didn't see one in the display area, although there were a few M Roadsters.

Great event but as you say it would have been even better without the pop-bang Bangra crowd!

I've posted this video before, although apparently not here. Back in the days when mere mortals could attend VMAX, I did it a few times (probably once in each of my M cars mentioned in the thread, and the E36 was actually a bit faster than the E46). This video was from November 2010, on a day that started with frost on the ground, and slowly returned to freezing fog as time went on. The track was quite slippery, hence the extreme caution round the bottom corner, as the RS4 guy braked really early, and I didn't want to risk running wide and into him. That generation of RS4 is more powerful than the CSL before you start tuning them, so it's a lot faster in a straight line, although the driver is obviously less happy ploughing through the fog than I was ! If you listen carefully you can hear the speed limiter cut in about a second before the timing beam. I think it did 161 or 162 mph. Turn up LOUD for CSL airbox pleasure.

That's a nice pair!

Love the picture of the CSL's lined up, and yes I saw the video of the tit falling out of the back of the car.

Summary of this summer... Went to a few events in the CSL and once again it passed the MOT with no issues. No other bills so far, so it's looking like it'll be a cheap year.

Met up with some other owners at Bicester today as part of a forthcoming CSL video. A few of us had owned our cars for 10+ years, and all planning to keep them as the general thought is, what could you actually replace it with ?

Stunning car. I'm hoping to hold on to my M Roadster for the foreseeable future. I'm not sure how well your bluetooth integration works but if you wanted a good device I found something supposedly for Mercedes that plugs into an old ipod connector. Loads up bluetooth and streams music right away. Its bloody good. I always used to faff about turning on a battery powered bluetooth receiver I got, but this one is miles apart.

Do you have a link for that ? Sounds useful if cheap enough…

Pay attention at the back there smile

It was a fun day, but I have to say I was properly nervous while Alex was off driving my car!

I can’t imagine what you’d replace it with either.

Fantastic picture…

I actually entertained looking at one of these whilst I was trying to decide which car to go for before I settled on my E39 540i and as good as the M3 is, just too small for me unfortunately frown
