Looking out the window this morning looked perfect for polishing... until I went outside! How bloody cold! Anyway, I manned up and went for it

Got to the car, moved everything so I could get her out and it would not start! Flat battery, so pushed it out and got the battery on charge

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

So I start by wetting the car down

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Two buckets setup and using Dodo Juice Lemon zest

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Washed the car down with my new Mit

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Washed her down with plenty of water

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Used my new Purple monster drying towel which at first I thought looked pathetic but it really did work well, bloody cold hands though

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Dried off

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Next up was some polish, you will have to turn your head haha. I went with megs as I found them to be good in the pasted. Also using a Megs applicator pad

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Putting it on

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

Another brand new Purple monster drying towel to remove the polish

Removed

Next up, the wax. When I opened the pot I thought it was all dried out and ruined but I was wrong. This stuff is really good! So easy to put on and take off. Again, put this on with an application pad

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

And you guessed it, another Purple monster towel to remove the wax

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

So like always with this country, it started raining! Lucky for me I seen it getting dark and removed the wax, put the battery back on and put her back in the garage just in time before it got wet

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

A couple drops of rain got on her

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

And a couple photos after the wax

Untitled by mboon, on Flickr

This photo shows the same spot on the rear spoiler that I took a before and after of earlier in the journal showing the difference between the compound. As you can see with the layers of polish and wax it has filled most of the swirls, not perfect by no means but not bad for my hands and elbow grease

The biggest let down for the paintwork is sadly some vandalism!!! I would love to of known who did it (This was not done in my ownership)

Yeah! Not happy about it but never mind hey. Got a guy I know who will hopefully cure this and the coil cover under the bonnet. Also have one dent that needs to come out as well.

That is it for now. I have left the battery on charge and need to clean the glass as it is minging ha

Cheers

I'm thinking I may have to take note of this washing lark. I currently use the "no bucket method" and a hosepipe

I ache to own this car or an E36 M3. Such a shame about the deep scratches; toerags.

Yeah it is a shame but not a huge cost to repair. Get one before the prices go up. Not many left now

That's a lovely example. There's one I see from time to time in dublin. They look fantastic in the flesh.
Good luck with her

Bloody hell that color looks fresh! Specially in the general overview of the front after drying where it looks remarkably warm.

Really nice car Mboon. Looks great after the under bonnet clean up.

Regarding insurance is that a confused type quote? If it is, keep running it through on a daily basis as it varies quite a bit.
Failing that you'll know about adding a wife or parent on do you? Drops the quote a bit if you add sensible named drivers.

Also worth adding check with specialist companies too. Confused is always best for our normal/daily cars but it can never match the specialist companies on my good stuff. Although I have an Admiral multicar policy at the minute and that is very good.

Yeah I used Sky for my Last M3. They was always a good price and knew the cars. I used confussed just for a quick reference. I will shop around

Well I learnt something new today which changes my plans. The stitching on the GT2s steering wheel matches the paint code. So buying a like new replacement from another M3 is out of the window. Looks like I will be getting this one restored

Love it. Nice shine to it after your cleaning session.

Every time I see mention of a nice E36 M3 on here, it makes me think back to my old one.

I would have another in a heartbeat. In fact 18 months ago, I was within a hair's breadth of grabbing another, a fairly unique car which you probably know of - a Tannengrun Evo with extended leather interior in Lemon Yellow. I put a deposit down on it but couldn't raise the cash in time... I'd still love to own that car.

Anyway, I digress. Sorry OP boxedin Lovely motor you have there.

Nice car, sauce!
You've just had me flicking through pics of my old BMs. I've had loads, but this was a nice daily driver. Owned about 5 years ago.
Once I get my house finished I'm buying either an E36 M3 or a facelift E46 330 Clubsport as a daily. Really missing my BMs at the minute.

So Mboon, you're saying that the green GTs will have green stitching etc? I never knew that either!

ot sure about the 3.0 GT.

I had a Estoril blue Evo Convertible. Loved that car. Will try find a pic of the two others I have had. We currently have a 330i Sport as well. Lovely all round car. Really reliable.

this is our 330i

Nice!
The facelift freshened the E46 up a lot. I owned this early E46 325. I shouldn't have sold it. Got rid as I'd feel guilty booting it around a track, so I bought a Civic Type R which was bloody awful for normal driving. Great when going daft but a bit pointless and they sound pants.

I also had this E36. Only a 318 though so no nice 6 pot soundtrack.

Like I say, I've had a few including an E36 328 Sport, 320 coupe.

That Cosworth is nice too. You can't beat an Escort on Rondells. I was in the RSOC many moons ago with Turbos and Cosworths. Bit of a funny lot though, some of them. wink

Anyway, I'll stop photo-spamming your thread. Looking forward to following your progress. Definitely one of the best models to pour a load of time and effort into. thumbup
