The passenger side base mount for the front leg of the cage was way too big, it would have been a danger to the ankle of the passenger, I cut that open, primed inside and then bent up an L shape plate to cover the hole. I then welded the plate to the base of the box and then welded that to the floor.



Cleaned up the floor with a wire wheel, then a de-rust liquid, then sanded, ready for a bilt hamber rust treatment which seals the metal. I then sanded that to give a key and remove high spots.

Then I sealed it up with an epoxy primer…..next will be seam sealer and another coat of epoxy.

Absolutely superb prep work, it will be good to know it has been done right when you’re driving it (tempting as I’m sure it can be at times to go ‘sod it, that’ll do.’
