Takes me back to the 90's there were loads of orion ghia 1.6i's around.


A chum of mine put a fiesta turbo engine in a standard escort - proper sleeper, zetec conversions weren't around back then - I seem to remember the fans and radiator didnt fit very well behind the standard bumpers, and it needed the swirl pot in the tank as it would misfire in hard corners.

Was always a Vauxhall man myself but there's a bloke who regularly commutes the A1/M1 link by Ferry bridge every day in a white Orion 1600E, I still remember those being the ones with leather interiors in the ford brochures that I had from the NEC as a spotty teenager, classy in a dodgily built Dagenham sort of way

New exhaust manifold still to bolt on...



Focus RS box conversion...



Still got some Focus Rs Brembos here to try and squeeze on up front...

Got plenty of garage space now at the new house... Will get there...

my only criticism would be losing the orion identity at the front by having the escort bits, but I guess the bigger 'holes' help airflow / cooling ?

Deffo needed... I hid the twin fans between the intercooler and rad, don't like seeing fans poking out the bumper...



No pics to hand of it finished, but I do my best to hide stuff to keep the factory look...
You'd never guess it run a oil cooler...

Great stuff OP, car looks amazing, must surely be one of the best in the country left.
Prompted me to do a quick search on ebay to see how many Orions popped up, only 2 of that era.
Slightly O/T but the "more items related to ford Orion" on ebay throws up as it's first suggestion a 2010 Prius! WTF!
