Well my old E30 is back in one piece and running once more.
It's funny but when it's not here I forget just how good it looks and sounds. It should sound a little fruitier soon, as Eisenmann are sending one of their race spec' exhaust systems. They're considerably cheaper than Supersprint and hugely cheaper than new OE from BMW. The only downside is the supply time of 3 to 5 weeks. Once it's here and fitted, it'll be time to head up to Wayne.
The spring rates need to be looked at also and corner weights done. I'm just unsure where to have that done so if anyone has any recommendations?

I was very lucky to get mine just before they had risen beyond my pocket. Mind you, 2002's are great cars. I think I've owned about 12 of them over the years and my first ever BMW was a '77 green 1502.
The M3 is back and sat on the drive. I have to work shortly, then bed and then a night shift to pay for the bloody thing!

Still want to come and see it when I am in gods country. Even though I've said that for a number of years now.
I did see it at RRG but you were otherwise engaged and the friend I was with ended up getting bored.
We used to stay at the Pigsty or on the road round the Beacon ( if you look in the XR4i thread you'll recognise the place
Will have to chat next time!
Put a few miles on the engine today. The weather is just glorious and with England playing, the roads are quieter than they might usually be on a Saturday afternoon. I don't know if it's the injectors but there's a marked improvement in the way the engine pulls through the entire rev range. Despite the warm weather the coolant and oil temp's remained constant. I'm on nights (which I bloody hate) so only had an hour or so, as I need to grab some sleep shortly, but I'm really happy to have the M3 back and running as it should be. The only jobs left now are the race spec' exhaust from Eisenmann, corner weights and final map from Wayne. Once those jobs are done I simply want to enjoy it for a while and hopefully take it up the hill at Shelsey next month. I've got tomorrow off though, so might give it a bit of a wash and polish.

I reckon so. Had a blast last year, and love Shelsey for the early days of motorsport feel to it. If you're at Gaydon I'll also be there too.
I really like the eclectic mix at RR events and am always made to feel welcome. Some very quick cars going up the hill too. I haven't been to Gaydon since about 2012/13 as it felt a bit predictable. Concours events with brand new cars entered etc. It's bloody hot in Cornwall today. I'm off out to Tehidy woods with my dogs shortly but planning an evening drive in the E30. I may take the camera along.
The RR events aren't too up themselves either. I like that. Not to mention the stuff in the car parks is usually as good as the stuff in there.
Gaydon is an odd one, I like it, and go because it isn't too expensive and a good day out with mates but I agree. Not to mention lots of owners clubs.

Couple of hundred miles in and all appears to be well. Performance is strong and it seems much smoother throughout the rev range since swapping injectors.
One thing I have noticed is how much cooler the engine is running now, compared to how it was before when fitted with the larger capacity Moroso sump, despite the much higher ambient temperature. Coolant temperature used to be 90 degrees on regular running but it now stays at around 85. Oil temperature is also lower. I'm wondering if the extra heat was coming from the premature wear in the bearings?
The Eisenmann race exhaust is on route but I have been looking into having a full performance system made to offer to other owners.
There are just a couple of jobs left now, the first of which is moving my seat position. I want to get it as low in the car as I can, whilst increasing the rearward tilt. The lack of space will most likely mean bringing it forward an inch or two though.
There's also a new hillclimb event here in Cornwall. It's the UK's first 'closed road' event since the law was changed to allow them. Hopefully I can enter both days, although my race suit etc is out of date now and replacement isn't cheap.
