I still think that the mod to lower the seats where you take out the washers under the seats was one that made a huge difference to me. It went from feeling like I was on top of the car to sitting nicely.
I also got round to changing the dogbone mount and it also made the car even better.
Is that seat mod easy to do?I also got round to changing the dogbone mount and it also made the car even better.
Had my dogmoint changed when I 1st got mine.
Very simple. Just follow a guide similar to this one.
I found it did make the seat a pain to move back and forward but as it was only me that ever drove the car it didn't bother me.

The BEST thing I did to my 172 Cup, was fit these:

It changed the whole driving experience. The standard engine mounts, even brand new ones, are utter garbage.

How much harsher are they?https://www.vibra-technics.co.uk/renault/clio_2_17...

When I was competing in mine I always meant to change them & polybush the suspension but stopped competing before I got around to it!
They're a touch harsher at idle, but then the Clio has a rough idle anyway. So long as you do the mounts up a little, then start the car and let it settle, then nip the bolts up, you should be all good.
The benefits though, are enormous.
- No more wheel hop
- No more exhaust hitting bulkhead
- No more gear stick movement, at all
- A 100x improvement in drive positivity and reaction, due to lack of engine movement, almost instant throttle response at the wheels
- Much less reliance on the dog bone, so it becomes a true stabiliser as it should be, rather than a stopper
- A complete stop of engine movement
So many people on Clio forums advocate replacing with new OE Renault items, and I'd simply put them in the bin. They are the worst bit of the car.
At the same time as having the mounts fitted I had every bush replaced with new OE items, nylon rack bushes, and new steering arms. It quite literally felt like a different car.

Brands is decent but I'd struggle to do a full Indy day there with the Evo. GP circuit is a must for me this year though.
The Evo is a very capable machine, no idea what my apex speed is at paddock but it's fast, lol. I had a few good laps with the red '46, and my mate and his red Golf R. The McLaren was an accident waiting to happen though, he put me on the grass on the run up to Druids.
I never pedalled my Clio round brands, I imagine all that lack of weight over the back makes Paddock quite a (fun) challenge!

I had Cobra things in mine, and they were the worst seats I've ever sat in. I had a harness bar between the rear struts too. But, to be honest, no-one ever went in the back.
Recaro's out of an R26 would be good, as they fold and bolt in quite easily.

That's an album of the seats/harnesses I did to mine.
