Placed deposit on this and collecting next Saturday

I have an '04 S Type Diesel as a sop to practicality (it still shifts across country, thanks to a wall of torque), but I always fancied one of these.
I love the later S Type shape and they are amazingly nimble for a big old bus, would love the V8 Supercharged soundtrack, but there is something about blasting along a nice A Road in a Jaaaag that always puts a smile on my face.
Best advice I can give is that they are very sensitive to tyre wear and pressure and the traction control is very heavy-handed in the wet/snow, so invest in winter tyres/chains where necessary (or avoid driving it in bad winter weather unless you are out of choice). Having said that, I would suggest the same about any heavy RWD saloon without a sack of cement in the boot to add weight over the driving wheels.
We've got an old V8 Range Rover for hacking about and carting the horse feed around, so the Jag is used for the odd commute trip and for family journeys and I can honestly say that nothing short of a Bentley would be a better place to be on a long trip. You're going to love your Jag, despite any niggles that you might encounter - they definitely get under the skin.

These replacement silencers have already been ordered so mine a few days in to November will sound like this

Looks great! and has the later gearbox too, I always regret not hanging out for a 4.2/6 speed XK8 as nice as my 4.0 was the 6 speed was less slushy and gave 4-5mpg better.
The soundtrack was the other thing missing, especially when next door has a 650 which sounds glorious compared to the Jaaaag's muted tones

I do a lot of work with Lexus so well versed in looking at the default german 3 brands and trying to find justification in buying the alternative
Jaguars always seem to age much more gracefully than equivalent brands - I never originally liked the S Type shape at all but now I think its lovely

I'm not surprised that GTV V6 went so quickly. The underside looked cleaner than my cars ever do!
I like these, there is/was one locally, that lives in a big house behind a high wall set back from the road that came down the gravel drive way at idle one day as I was walking past. Nice exhaust, discreet little R badge and non-shouty wheels. Subtle and tasteful.
I've a friend that has a much newer diesel Jag that may be fretting about having to get rid of it, and while his Jag may be pretty nice and special, I am wondering what the problem is when they could get rid of that and get an nice older S Type.
Regarding the looks, I think the facelift back end looks better, when it's just different light lenses and no sheet metal changes I think.
What's with the different colour headlamp washer covers?
