Smallish update:

Recently got in touch with one of the 2 people I was recommended to do the mapping on the car, after several months of attempts and one failed MAF later.. we got a power run post mapping smile

It's smooth but also has a habit with the 3.23:1 ratio diff of spinning up the rear tyres in the wet now hehe

And last weekend i took it to SS at Silverstone again. Was good to meet a few people whom i'd been following their builds for a while too

I was hoping to have this fitted, but the subframes didn't arrive till Monday frown

Will have some pictures soon of this fitted.

Nice! Bucket seats in a touring has to be cool :-)

Are you happy with the figures or were you expecting a little more with the cams etc? What is your actual engine spec now?

It's not that wild really. Specs are as follows:
> M54b30
> Alpina B3 exhaust including manifolds
> Just Deutsch V1T cams
> K&N intake system
> Chipwizards remap on stock siemans ECU with stock rev limiter.

I was hoping for 250 as I'd seen others making nearly 260bhp with a tubular manifold but this is good

Sounds good. I'd be really interested to see a back to back dyno run with the stock intake system.

What are your thoughts on the map overall, obviously not a mega performance gain ultimately but have you found improvements in throttle response/low down pull?

It's just smoothed it all out, when i had a dyno run previously, there was a big dip in power at 4000rpm mainly down to a cam sensor going down.
Otherwise it just feels more free to rev up in the higher part of the rev range from 3500 to 6000rpm. Having spoken to Wayne at Chipwizards, a lot of these cars that he's mapped on stock management tend to be rather rich in the top end, so they have a tendency to get a bit sluggish.

Just a quick video with a new camera, managed to get some amazon vouchers for Xmas, so they've gone on a new sports camera, not a Go Pro, but a Cross Tour CT9500, and so far, impressed with the quality and the much improved audio.. so much less rattly.

Will be considering another ring trip later in the summer around august, but waiting to see what happens in March first before planning anything.

Just a brief update; Car is booked into a bodyshop for start of March, Basically looking like a full respray bar the roof and tailgate with rust repairs throughout eek It should be worth it though.

Hopefully should look brand new and will be sporting a minor change up front to match the Carbon piece in the back.

Also if anyone reads Modern Classics.. may have spotted it in there

Looks good and n the press.

In amongst the work, can I recommend one of Jack at Royal’s steering wheels. I had one done in Nappa leather and i cannot believe the difference it has made.

Its been on the cards, I have a quote. but bodywork needed sorting as it's getting worse, and rather get it sorted before it needs major surgery.

I've just caught up on all 14 pages, been reading it over the last few evenings..... looks like you know that car inside out now! The little KW adjusters are a nice subtle touch in the rear.
Strange how the rear hub bush had a flat spot on it, never seen that before!

That flat spot i worked out was from the garage trying to press out the driveshaft from the flange, with the hub resting on that part. Given apprently it took a few tons of pressure to force the driveshaft out (9 tons apparently eek) not surprised it was bent.

Small update, been gathering parts again.

As of next weekend the car is off to a bodyshop to deal with the rust spots and stone chips. It's not going to be cheap... but it should be quite something when finished.

After that only 2 more major items to complete before i consider the car completed, and one minor one, though the minor and one major part requires ordering parts from the USA... and that with the current political crazyness and resultant fallout, is not going to be cheap frown

The body work on mine has gotten quite tatty too, i've been doing the "do i, don't i" thinking. I'm sure once its done you'll be over the moon with it, It's a lovely looking touring as it is!

Two more parts from the USA, i'm intrigued?! The carbon on those splitters looks nice.

Would be the clutch / flywheel combo from ECS - they do a single mass conversion that if you've got the 5 speed box, it marries up as the spline matches the E34 M5 gearbox. thus.. lightened flywheel with stock M5 clutch, which ought to keep things happy and no chatter.
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/performance-...

As for the other part, looking to get camber plates which are designed to work with stock top mounts, but induce 2.5- 3.0 negative camber.
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-265-front-fixed...

Though have had a suggestion from a friend about investigating if BMW have an offset stock mount, Z4 or M3.. if anyone knows?
As for the rust, the rear arches are getting rather bubbly, and given the rarity of the car (under 200 genuine Touring manual sports left if Howmanyleft.co.uk is correct) I'd rather get it sorted.

Those carbon lip spoilers before anyone says are the clubsport versions, just Mtech did them in genuine carbon fiber.. and I've already got the rear diffuser. It's subtle, easy to miss.

Just be careful with them. Mine are just the standard BMW ones and they are quite easy to catch.

Didn't realise they were that rare, I had two at one point (only for a week or so between buying one and waiting for the purchaser of the other to collect).

Enjoyed your thread. I'm picking up 2004 330i sport touring manual on Thursday this week as as my daily hack. It needs a bit of tidying on the rear arches and front wings but drove very nicely. Hopefully it'll be a reliable replacemt for the £500 lexus is200 I've run for the last 2 yrs. I've given £1500 for it and it's dome 124 k but is well known to my Mexhanic pal who says it's solid underneath. There's something about the touring that imo is really classy.

Thank you everyone who's given comments, it's quite something to see my work has inspired others to start their own threads

Anyway.. the car's away at LA Paintworks, I'll hopefully have some progress shots during this week to share.

For the moment i have this... heap.. 0.9litre turbo goodness from Renault.. and the only good feature is the entertainment system

I hired one of those recently, and was surprised how appalling it was!
