Hi Guys and Previous owner!!!

I am now the new owner to the Clubsport and I’m very very happy.

I bought it off one of my old school buddy’s who owns Goodchild’s garage in Piddington between High Wycombe and Stokenchurch.

My 4 year old Pug 308 GT blew a gasket and I decided to trade it in to We Buy Any Car dot com, as they offered me near enough the price I wanted for it.

I was stuck without a car and bought this as a result. I’m not even sure where I’m going with this car but all I know is I’m going to continue its legacy until I decide to find something new.

Right!!! New service done at 166k, new break callipers to be fitted tomorrow and a engin clean has been done. Oil leaks fixed. (Gasket seals).

Car runs and sounds beautiful. Thinking about feeding the leather inside and a general clean it up in the cabin.

Looking to sort the small usual rust spots on the arches soon. Common fail on the e36 and 48s.

All for now!!! It’s been a long while since I had a e48!! It’s brought a big fat memory Lane smile on my chops.

What was wrong with the calipers? I hadn’t noticed any problems.

I shall try my hardest to keep this going.

The rear driver side calliper had been replaced today as I believe it was sticking.

Suspected oxygen sensor coded, but trying out some fuel additive. I should run it on super unleaded really. This new unleaded is awful. We shall see.

Airbag light keeps going on with “Driver, airbag, stage 1” on the computer. Looked into it and it could be a dodgy connection under the seat. I have adjusted the seat when I bought it. It can also be the contacts in the steering wheel that need cleaning.

Airbag code won’t be due to the u/seat connector.

It has only had the high octane stuff in during my ownership. From my experience with the e36 that preceded it, it makes a huge difference to how it runs.
The airbags were done under recall when I first got it, I was surprised when Ash told me about it, I had never seen it come on for that. Usually it is the passenger occupancy sensor which now has a resistor in. Occasionally it gets disturbed by people getting in and out.
It was MOT’d a matter of days before I sold it and the brakes seemed ok, it must be sulking at not being used for a few months.

It’s probably my fat arse lance lol 😂. It hasn’t come on since and I haven’t adjusted my seat.

I think your right with the fuel issue. Super will be the one from now. I know M3s don’t like standard go go juice that’s for sure.

Anyway, as a result post cat bank 2 lamba sensor fitted today as per the computers codes.

Ash went ballistic trying to remove it from the exhaust bless him. A bit of Silicone spray loosened it up in the end.

I gave her a good run up the 40 tonight and blasted out the cobwebs. She goes well, smile on face. No EML upon return.

That’s me now for a bit, just the boring commute next week.

News update!!!

Battery died on me yesterday “Easter bank holiday Monday”. Dead as dead can be. New one replaced today.

Rear boot lid gas struts given way. New ones on order.

New oil leak found, looking into new gaskets to repair. Lost a litre in 2 weeks but I have been nailing it recently. Sump topped up and running smooth.

Let’s hope the new battery holds its charge for tonight’s Nightshift.

5/5/2022 - New update. The CS has a new oil housing Gasket fitted today. Mission of a job but now completed and hopefully will stop a litre of oil going in each week. Car running much smoother. Fitted by Goodchild’s garage.

My son saw you filling up the other morning and I spotted you out in it on Thursday, certainly seems to be running well
I like the new boot lid badge. To my tired old eyes, it looks really odd seeing it driving around with the old number plates on.

This prompted me to read through the thread again and I have done so, generally with a smile.
I had begun to forget just how good a car it really was and how easy it is to work on.

If, as and when the Jag has to move on, I might be asking for first refusal.

Lovely car and I hope it gets u see your skin and you keep it. Bar any interior tech, it must surely be a nicer, purer drive than the Peugeot you had.

Good evening clubby lovers!!!

Car due for its service 173k, going for a complete filter change, sparks and oil. Transmission oil change and a new prop shaft housing seal. (Making a flapping noise in first and second when you give it the beans).

Car is chewing a litre of oil every 1k but that’s down to my elusive driving.

New set of rear pilots due next month Oct.

Today electrical soldering and shrink wrap on the boot lid electrics. See pic.

There's plenty of bits that can / should be changed on an M54 if you have excessive oil consumption. I got mine down to basically nothing by replacing the rocker cover gasket, CCV & switching from 5/40->5/30.

Have a look through the bills, I’m sure that the gearbox and diff oil was changed not all that long ago.

My E90 needed that done earlier this year on just 117K miles.

I have checked the extensive history and it took me ages.

At 174094 Miles 29th September 2022 Goodchild’s garage carried out a full service including spark plugs. Lowered exhaust system and heat shields. Removed prop shaft, Stripped down and replaced worn centre support bearing / mounting. Drilled out broken bolts x2 in floorpan for exhaust support bracket. Re-tapped and repaired. Replaced centre exhaust support mountings x2. Replaced front wiper blades and lubricated o/s/f window rubbers with silicon spray. Reset service indicator and Road tested.

Running sweet!!!

I popped in to see Ash this afternoon and saw the car on ramp.

It still feels weird seeing it when it's not mine.
Sounded good, still lovely and smooth.
