I was only pulling away gently from a junction when it went, but it’s the first major problem in over three years of ownership, and is probably the original and 60k miles old.

Ahh disaster! this is only the 2nd time in 7 years it's been on the back of an AA van - last time my rear brakes started leaking I think. So not bad really, gotta hand it the the AA guy though, he was a proper charachter. I think over an hour was him poking around the Megane and chatting about cars (sorry to anyone else that was waiting for a tow that night!).

All done now and I’ll be using the Meg for the next few tack sessions as I sold my main track car on Saturday and I won’t have a replacement for another couple of months.

I only bought it to drive to/from the train station.

Had mine nearly 7 years. Has 184k miles now. Had 35k miles when I bought it

Why is it that the simplest jobs turns into a reet pain in the ass because of two bolts.

Got there in the end, can’t beat fresh brakes.



MOT soon, but good to have dry weather and be back on the road.

Don’t undo one calliper carrier bolt and remove it completely before loosening off the other bolt… or you might end up with an arch shaped cut on your head and an imprint of a carrier on your face whistle

Its pretty easy tbh, just need a 36mm socket for the nut holding the disc on. Big breaker bar for the carrier bolts.

Iirc, you need 13mm 15mm spanners and a E16 socket to remove the carrier

If you get new carrier bolts from Renault, they don't use an E-torx head and are just regular hex. Which is handy as they get chewed up easily.

Not far off owning this for 9 years now... mad looking back at the photots!
