Welcome. Lots of info here, and you might enjoy the barge thread.

One of my mates dragged me round the tank museum in Saumur a few years ago, five hours of my life I'll never get back hehe

First question from newbie,
Is this normal when I open the car by the key only driver door is opening but if I use fob then two doors and the boot are opening?
Thanks in advance

Thanks r129sl
During a wee search I located this plug hanging on the door. Seems like connection for actuator but mine has not place for it.

On my car, if I unlock with the key, when I open the door the alarm goes off. And the key gets stuck in the door.

I've never tried the key in the door but on the fob, one press is driver's door only and second press is the rest.

I think you can change that behaviour (you could on later Mercs) by holding the keys on the remote in a certain way you can make the button do either all the locks or just the driver's door. Perhaps hold the lock and unlock button for 5 seconds to change it?

On my W140 you could open the boot with the remote fob but had to hold it down for something ridiculous like 10 seconds so it was an entirely useless feature.

On mine to open the boot I need to press the fob button twice.

A successful trip to Star for an A service, gearbox service and fit the new outside temperature sensor (sensor end cut off the new one and soldered in to save labour). A reasonable £367 I thought

That does seem reasonable. Nice to have it fettled.

I am back from three nights camping in Swanage at a different site nearer to town. £12 a night at Quarr Camping, decent showers and toilets but a bit hilly. All-in-all a nice break apart from the hellish traffic yesterday coming back.

On Saturday I walked roughly 6 miles to Swanage and along the coastal path back to The Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers. That wore me out so I called for a lift back to the campsite.

I can't remember which is which but here are Seacombe Cliff, Dancing Ledge and Blackers Hole

Ahh, the S&C. I love that place. It's a nice boozy walk from there to the Scott Arms, and then down to the quarry for sunset (or not, if you're inside of it taking photos like I normally am!)

Did the car struggle on damp grass?

No damp grass encountered though I think it would be ok on the Quatrac 5s

I was just up the coast from you a bit towards West Bay this weekend, and I know Swanage well from childhood and a few trips with the 1st Mrs Stickleback, it's a lovely part of the country. I think your C140 might make an even more incongrous camping car than my W221 with a roofbox/

Last year I got stuck in mud going up a hill into a campsite, on nearly bald 275 section Toyo Proxes tyres on the rear. In the end I had to turn off the traction control and just boot it to get out, much to my kids amusement hehe

How difficult is it to fix a failed headlamp bulb? Easy peasy one should think.

My RH headlamp failed the other day. I had a couple of new H1s in stock so I swapped it over and no change. Hmm. I tried another and no change.

I swapped over the working LH bulb and no change. I put the new bulb into the LH headlamp and it worked. I noted that the bulb does not illuminate unless it makes contact with the slot in the back of the headlamp unit.

It's time to open the multimeter box! 11.7V at the working LH side and 10.1V at the duff side, engine off. I have no idea if that is relevant.

What about the fuses (11 and 12 for you C140 fuse enthusiasts)? I swapped them around and no change. I checked continuity on the fuses and both good.

Rag about to be lost I put everything back and the RH headlamp worked and the LH didn't! FFS!

To be continued...

Seems an odd one but I hate vehicle electrics generally.

Saw your car at Bicester again, wish I'd bought some polish for that bumper of yours tongue out

I've been very lazy about that. I bought some acetone nail varnish remover on W00DY's advice but I still haven't used it. I shall reinvigorate my efforts! I need two working headlamps first though.

So a bit late into this topic but hows the cl going? What happened with your parking sensors? Any joy fixing them?
