Have you ever had issues with the seatbelt extender?
Mine stopped functioning but the motor still whirred - my specialists electrician thought he’d fixed it and it worked a couple of times but stopped again and now I’m told it needs a relay (£1000).
I can use it without extender but I like everything to work
Does anyone know of any possible fixes other than a relay that would be worth trying?

Yes! It may be much simpler than that. If you find the wiring diagram you will find the extender is triggered by a switch in the door, the same one as the interior light (but iirc two switching circuits in one). Remove the switch, which is very easy either a couple or no screws, and give the contacts a good clean.

I figured the above out after dismantling the rear interior of my car and changing the arm for a new one and all manner of messing about when in fact some contact cleaner sprayed into the switch might have done the job!

I'd go with Ben's good advice. My RH extender works but the triangular escutcheon has come away from the arm. It's been glued twice but now requires replacement.

Sometimes the LH one extends with a mind of its own when I brake but hasn't done it for quite a while.

A new one is surprisingly cheap and whilst a faff not that difficult to replace.

The random extension will almost definitely be the switch in question

tobinen, I'm not certain whether you still require alignment (as discussed on barge thread) or are nr Warwick, but I came across these guys.

Its the little things...
I thought that buying a set of wiper blades would be staightforward but nothing stocked on the high street and Mercedes only stock one blade (£53& VAT) so you have to cobble togeher a blade for the nearside
£60 for 1 wiper unit...
Wish I'd bought more sets when they were available as a set.

I think the wider blade can be sourced as a truck part.

It took me an age to find one when I had mine and after I had manage to source one I heard the above.

If you go back a number of pages, I sourced Bosch aero blades but it took me a couple of attempts to work out the correct size. I think I ended up with two different lengths by 10mm (incorrectly but it works)

found it on page 8, longer ago than I thought

If anyone else has a 140 coupé, the wiper is not 700mm (28" in old money) for the left side, despite what I thought I'd seen on the Bosch site.

600mm is correct for the right side and looks to be correct for the left side, or at least will fit.

Edit: Finally found a complete Bosch catalogue. I need AR65N x 2 (650mm) - these are the retrofit Aerotwins

Thanks

Before receiving these replies, I ordered the main wiper from Meredes (£53 & VAT) and my mechanic then told me he would be able to fit a VW spec wiper for rhe passenger side (shorter).
I'm taking it in next week so will keep you posted.
Will also ask him to clean the door connectors to see if that makes the butler's arm work.

I’m getting confused about the size of the wiper blades. Is it 2x650 as #tobinen said?

y understanding from speaking to Mercedes is that the blades are different sizes - otherwise , they would simply have sold ne 2 separately....

Looks like a have a 705mm and 628mm blades on my cl420. I also noticed that my extension doesn’t work (broken gear cog). Question, can I use 2x650 instead of the one I have which are mega expensive?

Perhaps they are different lengths then.

My cog also failed but I sourced a new one via eBay (Hungary seller IIRC)
