I'd love to do a tunnel run with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad1XphQUj1Q

Perhaps a bit fatiguing for driving long distances. biggrin

I appreciate all the love! Took it to work today as it was the only sunny day all week, it gets a lot of attention, not a car you can pick your nose in. My favorite part of the car is probably the suspension. It is remarkably comfortable and without the jiggly ride so many sports cars suffer with. Anyway, another shot for the fellow bum lovers.

Good for you - you only live once! Such an interesting car - bound to be appreciating right?

I had a press car in same colour for a week - when it was first out it was (and still is) an absolute head turner. Drove up to Manchester in it in the daytime and everything was just getting out of my way. Thought it wonderful and respectful of the car (and then noticed that main beam was on but due to my seating position I didn't see the blue 'main beam' dash lamp it, I think)! I can just feel how you are going to enjoy it smile

Mega.

I adore these cars. As another poster mentioned, I'd definitely have one in my dream garage. In my top 5, even.

I don't like the plate, though. I get the reference, but it makes no sense to me personally.

Anyway... Hope you enjoy it!

hehe

Quote of the week! Its defiantly an "event" car, brilliant to take for a spin to anything and anywhere.

Envious!! That looks stunning - they do appear to hold their value impeccably as well.

Im extremely delighted for you. THis has always been the car I wanted more than almost any and I am kicking myself for not buying a purple targa I saw about 8 years ago at approximately half the value they have shot up to!
Good luck with it.
Can you give us figures? Im nosey.

Regarding the cost lets just say the most Ive ever paid for a car previously was £1800. This was substantially more! Its tricky to judge where values are, there are quite a lot for sale currently and some have been on sale a long time which would suggest the asking price is too high or they are mutton dressed as lamb? Parts can be very expensive, the clutch cost more than £1200, plus labour.

I wondered that too.
Lots of cars seem to be overpriced and don't sell
TO ask this a different way:

What do you think from your research, an early manual targa with 80k miles in decent mechanical condition is worth?

Those advertised on PH seem to be towards the upper end of the range.
Autotrader has a few including this red one, not sure about the wheels though; 1990 NSX manual.

I assume he has looked at a few, so I meant allowing for condition once you have seen them in the flesh.
SO is that red one in autotrader a realistic price and hence the only one that will get sold, or is it cheap because it's knackered?

That one is a grey import so I guess that's why it is a slightly lower price.
Apologies, I've butted in on OP so will leave him to answer you question. wink

I seem to recall when they were launched one of the big deals made about them was that they cost no more than a Civic to service. Is that not the case?

There must be some issue with that red JDM import on AT. It's been for sale for months, but it's by far the most affordable manual NSX on the market. If it's straight, it's a bargain.

JDM and auto are two big factors that hamper the sale of an NSX here, with accident damage being even worse (due partly to worries about poorly done aluminium repairs). And the NSX market has matured, so aftermarket mods tend to be a problem, not a bonus.

There is a major difference between service and parts costs. Especially when getting on a bit. Don't forget as well that the Civic will have lots of "OEM spec" parts available at a significant discount while even for the Civic Honda prices would be significantly more. I doubt LuK do a standard kit for the NSX so it would have to be Honda parts or "uprated" parts at a "performance" price point so I don't actually think £1200 is too unreasonable (even if it is 2/3rds of the highest price previously paid for a car!)

I really like these.

I think that it should be expected that they may underwhelm you, if you wanted to see what one would be like modern day, test drive the new one for comparison.

Its the special feeling, the beauty of such a classic, the original, which makes it so splendidly unique.

Well done op!

Perhaps I shouldn't have quoted - I am more than aware of the difference between service items and parts.

It still doesn't answer my question about service costs though.

Yeah, sorry I meant more that they probably *didn't* cost more than a civic to service at a main dealers. Apart from needing more spark plugs. biggrin They might now though because of age and limited parts.
