Hi I own Vex have done for 7 years.
Still like great.
Hi - fascinating - I love that the VEX story goes on. It was cherished by its first owners - who were a delightful couple - and they would be so thrilled to know that, 46 years on, the car is still going strong and giving pleasure to current owners. I really will get round to seeing if I can dig out any photos of it back in the day when Paul and Winnie had it. I can see it now, on the drive of my grandparents house

Dolly Sprint cylinder head everso clever, if a bit fragile, was looking at one all in bits in the pits at Goodwood last weekend. (one day I'll recount the story of the exploding Dolly Sprint carnage trailer Ford Scorpio wipeout fiasco, 15 years on I still shudder)

Inspired by your car, I bought one, a Daimler, 2.8, Rover carbs with manual choke and electronic ignition got it running fine. It was just the best driving car EVER!

So here I am, up to my ankles in a Silver Shadow engine rebuild, bleeding many many beer and pork scrathcing tokens, knowing full well that the XJ6/Sov was/is a better car.

Humph. Stupidity threshold remains low.

Looks awesome - as does the water tower - I’ve long held an obsession with converting one into a house

There is one near me, its near Althorne, Essex, which looks fantastic.

Also, you can't beat a Series 1, that looks beautiful. Love the Daimler grille.

A question regarding that glorious white Daimler in front of the water tower - would that fabric (Webasto?) sunroof be a factory fitted option or would it have been an aftermarket one? No reason, other than just curious.

All that I know from the car's papers is that the Webasto was fitted either when the car was new or soon after it was new. The Webasto may have been a dealer fit option.

From what I understand they were a factory option but fitted locally somewhere near browns lane rather than in the factory itself

We have done quite a lot of bodywork, but it still wants more.

It is on the button and gets out and about including BL Day at Milton Keynes last year.
