1975 Jaguar XJ Coupe 6.0 V12
Discussion
Not much progress since last update because they have been concentrating on Sir Patrick Stewarts XJS. Hopefully get the bottom grille and lights in this week and the rear lights done in red. Bumpers are off at the chromers. Old school locksmith is sorting out the locks too so all the doors and fuel caps will be the same key and the glovebox and the boot the same too. Will be good to be down to the standard 3 keys rather than the current 7 although proper remote central locking will be being fitted.

I understand there were about half a dozen coupes there. We need a few more to be destroyed to raise the values I've never understood why you would want the Avon convertible because to me the pillarless swooping roofline is what makes the design but each to their own. cant imagine how wobbly they are!

cool Andy, where did you get that? wonder if they could do a version of my car once its finished.
Available from www.gts-models.comSo the plan has always been to modernise it and make it more sporty like an XJR coupe might have been.
Looking at a set of late XJS seats for a more sporty option and then will reshape the rear a bit to match when they are rebuilt and retrimmed.
The interior scheme is a retrim of the seats in red with diamond quilting in the centre and all stitching in black then black carpet, red door cards with the feature part in diamond stitch and then upper doors, console and dash in black leather with a suede cloth headlining. Black wood with new black wood thick steering wheel, matching gear lever (get rid of the T) and chrome switches and air vents.
Opinions? Do the seats look like they would fit into the plan?

Shouldn't seats provide comfort and support ? while they might fit and be in character with the car how are they comfort wise ? would something like the XKR recaro seats be an option ?
But yes i think they would be in keeping with the character of the car.
The XKR seats are too low to fit properly. The other option is DB7 but most of those seats are ugly or if they are the nice ones very rare. I'm gonna buy the XJS seats and fit them in and go for a drive see what I think. They are only £200. They should provide much more support than the standard armchairs But yes i think they would be in keeping with the character of the car.
