Please can you post a picture of it if you can dig it out, I'm not sure what the original one looked like ?

What are people’s opinions on the xj on Jalopnik today?
I was initially feeling negative but warmed a lot it as I scrolled down. 3500 man hours too.
Certainly an indulgence, but good on him.
Saw it on Tuesday in Geneva. Not a fan, far too many modern styling touches that make it look like that one facelift too many on an old car. And 18-inch wires? P**s off.I was initially feeling negative but warmed a lot it as I scrolled down. 3500 man hours too.

Just sat and read the whole thread (in two sittings as everyone has talked a lot!). The car looks fantastic and I love the individual touches that you've made and got to say I'm impressed that everyone has been so helpful and with no negative comments like I'm used to seeing PH, it'll definitely make me more likely to post a my car thread in the future so thanks for sharing. I'm a bit curious to see if your friend still has his two coupes for sale? I've been looking for one for ages at a reasonable price as a project but every time I seem to see one listed they're gone as soon as they appear.
Hey lukeharding thank you for your kind comments. I made it a thing at the start that everyone’s opinions are valid and there should be no negativity about people’s thoughts. It’s been good and has given me access to quite a sizeable design focus group hope to see it all come together around August this year with the next batch of photos when the gearbox is done at the end of the month hopefully.
Finally the Johns Cars gearbox adaptor kit has arrived from Texas! What a palaver that was! Hopefully by the end of April then we will be in a position where new gearbox is in and wiring all sorted and then car will *just* need trimming and all the modern electrical stuff added. I can start to see the end of the tunnel. Chrome and wheels orders are progressing nicely.
I’m in a good place now. Until Keith rips the old gearbox off and finds a load of lower engine issues

John's cars is just down the road from me. Interesting guy, he also owns a rail road. I have the 700R4 conversion on my XJ12C, I'm wondering if you needed it given that you're running the 6l motor. That should have the chevy bolt pattern.I’m in a good place now. Until Keith rips the old gearbox off and finds a load of lower engine issues

Yeah I heard about him owning a rail road. There are a couple of different versions of the 6L engine and the late Ford fettled version already has a 4 speeder. Mine is a Jaguarsport 6.0 which is basically a 5.3 fettled by TWR and the differences from the standard 5.3 are basically a stroke increase (this makes it 6.0) and then revised headers and breathing and other things to raise the BHP. They have a GM400 as standard and I will be using his adaptor to fit the 700r4 as you have. It’s quite a different beast to the later Ford version.
